How to weave brickstitch earrings?
How to mix Miyuki beads and PureCrystal crystals in a piece of jewelry?
Here's an original creation combining Miyuki glass beads and PureCrystal crystal beads to create baroque and bohemian-style earrings in mint and emerald tones. This is a simple tutorial for everyone!
Are you new to bead weaving? Don't panic! We've prepared a number of technique sheets for you in our toolbox, including those for learning Brick Stitch weaving: How to start a Brick Stitch weaving? and Comment faire un tissage en brick stitch avec augmentation et réduction? will help you get started and create your own pair of earrings.
A tutorial shared by designer Estelle from the blog Petit Bout de Chou, thank you!

1. Making the PureCrystal bead attachments To make these earrings, we'll start by preparing the attachments for our PureCrystal beads. For the mini pears, cut 7cm of brass wire.Pass the wire through the hole so that you have half the wire on either side, then bend the wire at 90 degrees on either side of the hole to bring the wire back to vertical (1). Press on the wire near the bead to bring the two wires together. Next, take your round-ended pliers and bend one of the wires 90 degrees outwards (2). Go around the bottom end to form a loop (3), then twist the wire around the two vertical strands, working your way down and tightening the loops together (4). You can then cut off both ends (the upward strand no longer needed and the excess loop).
For the baroque loop, take your round-headed nail and thread the baroque bead onto it. Bend the stem at 90 degrees (1) using your flat-nose pliers (2). Place your round-tipped pliers above and below the bent part of the stem, close to the bend.(3) Bend the wire around the top end to form a loop.(4) Turn the pliers a little to re-center the loop.(5) Trim the excess wire.(6) Your clasp is ready.
2. Brick stitch weaving Follow the diagram below, starting with the first row in ladder stitch.
Start with the longest row.
Weave according to the pattern, decreasing at the beginning and end of the row to form the triangle. Once the last row of two beads has been completed, string 6 beads.
Thread the second bead downwards.
Work your way up through the first bead and through the loop beads a second time to secure them.
Pass back through the zigzag weave to secure the lap thread as you work your way down the center of the first row. Then thread in the following pattern: 5 beads and work your way up through the adjacent bead and the one above it towards the center, then down through the two adjacent beads towards the outside, pulling on the thread loosely to position the beads.
10 beads and work your way up through the bead symmetrical to the start bead and the bead above it towards the center, then work your way down through the two adjacent beads towards the outside, pulling on the thread loosely to position the beads.
15 beads and pull up through the bead symmetrical to the one at the start and the one above towards the center, then pull down through the two adjacent beads towards the outside, pulling on the thread loosely to position the beads.
15 beads + two green PureCrystal spinners and proceed as above
26 beads + one pink PureCrystal spinner and proceed as above
33 beads and proceed as aboveas for previous rows
38 beads including the small PureCrystal pear mounted in the middle and proceed as for previous rows
Pull the thread into the weave, making several zigzags. Cut the thread flush with the weave. 3. Assembly Use your flat-nose pliers to open the hook ring and insert the top ring of the baroque bead stem, then close with your pliers. Similarly, open the lower ring of the baroque bead and insert the loop formed at the top of the weave. Close the ring with the pliers. Repeat for the second loop.
Your earrings are finished!
