This necklace tutorial is part of our August theme dedicated to easy summer jewelry. Today, I’m sharing a delicate and luminous design that combines the lightness of Miyukiseed beads with the natural softness of freshwater pearls.
For this necklace, I’ve designed a composition that’s both simple and refined: crystal yellow AB 8/0 Miyuki seed beads, whose iridescent shimmer captures the summer light, are paired with pretty pearly white rice-grain freshwater beads for an airy and elegant look. A tiny yellow stainless steel octopus charm adds a playful, nautical touch that gives this creation its charm. Accessible to everyone, even those just starting out in creative jewelry-making, this beginner’s tutorial can be completed in just a few minutes and on a very reasonable budget. All the findings used—rings, a Lobster Clasp, crimp beads, and wire protectors—are made of gold-plated stainless steel, ensuring strength and durability so you can enjoy your jewelry all season long.

Cut a length of wire about 80 cm long, then slide a wire protector halfway down the wire. You should have an equal length of wire on either side of the wire protector.
Next, add a crimp bead by sliding both strands of wire through it, then crimp it closed using crimping pliers. You can now begin stringing your Miyuki beads.
After threading 6 beads onto both strands, begin threading beads onto each strand to create two separate strands of beads.
Continue until you reach the middle of the necklace, then thread a freshwater bead onto both strands to join them together.
Slide on the mini octopus charm after attaching a jump ring to it.
Thread the freshwater beads by sliding both threads through them. Stop threading the freshwater beads about 1 cm before the end of your necklace.
Slide on 5 Miyuki beads so that the hole is large enough to thread your nylon threads through.
Once your beads are strung, add a crimp bead, followed by a wire protector, making sure to thread both strands securely through it. Your two strands should cross in opposite directions inside the wire protector.
For a sturdy and neat finish, thread the strands through the crimp bead and the Miyuki beads. Once everything is tight enough, crimp the crimp bead and trim any excess thread that’s sticking out.
Finally, slide the two sections of your extension chain—opening the loops as you go—onto your cable protectors. Place the clasp on one side and the chain on the other.
