Earrings with large resin beads are at the heart of current trends. These pearls are reminiscent of jewelry from the 70s. To make beautiful earrings, you'll need to master the art of forming earrings with studs. Click on the link to view a video on studs and earring formation. Studs, also known as pins, are a staple of fantasy jewelry design. They can be used to create spacers and pendants or charms with beads. These seventies ear rings are made up of three parts: the ready-made stud, the tube pearl mounted on a round-headed stud and the round pearl topped by a round pearl mounted on a ball-headed stud. To make earrings on stems, you need at least two jewelry pliers: one with round tips and one with cutting tips. A third pair of flat-nose pliers is also useful for straightening nails and loops.
As mentioned above, the rods are made of stainless steel. This metal is hard to cut. The best way to recut them without damaging the cutting pliers is to use memory wire pliers. Cutting nails with conventional wire cutters is possible, but in the long run, your pliers will be badly damaged.
Rectangular beads have very large holes. To keep the pearl centered on the round-headed nail, the trick is to thread small pearls onto the nail before threading the large rectangular pearls. This keeps the rectangles straight. I threaded 13 beads. The beads must not protrude from the rectangle.
Once the pearl has been threaded onto the stud, cut the stem 8 mm from the pearl and try to make a loop as close as possible to the rectangle pearl, and as small as possible (but large enough to hold the ear stud). The closer the loop to the bead, the prettier the result. The tube should be able to slide through your loop.
Open the ring of the stud and slide the rectangle bead into it, on the side of the loop you've just formed. Do not fasten the side of the earring already made to the stud. Here, the studs are another version of the earrings shown. You'll find these ear studs in the variation section of the equipment list.
Prepare the lower part of the earrings. Thread a size 11 seed pearl onto a ball stud, followed by a terracotta pearl and a beige rondelle. Cut back the stud to 8 mm from the pearl if necessary and form a loop with the round pliers, as close as possible to the beige pearl.
Pull the rectangle bead up over the small loop you've created to release the loop below. Open this loop and slide in the terracotta and beige beads you've just created. Close the loop.
And here's the result! Choose the ear studs and pearl colors you prefer from the list of materials.
