How to finish a weave with inverted peyote tips?

Want to try a new weave to expand your collection? You've come to the right place! Here's a new tutorial by our creative partner Petit Bout de Chou, aka Estelle, using the odd peyote weaving technique. If you're not familiar with the odd peyote weaving technique, it's a loomless bead weaving technique! This tutorial is at an intermediate level, but if you're just starting out, you can use the How to start an odd peyote bracelet datasheet .

This bracelet is made in odd peyote weave with Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads. You'll find all the bead references at the bottom of the materials list. All you need is a very fine weaving needle and strong weaving thread. However, this peyote weaving grid is not compatible for loom weaving, as the beads are not aligned in the same way. This bracelet is woven with 21 rows of pearls across its width. It is compatible with Perles and Co's exclusive weaving tips. These tips enable you to finish your weavings at the point and give a more finished look to your creations.

In this tutorial, we use a pattern with star cut-outs. You can also use the21 mm bohemian-style weaving tip. These weaving tips come in 3 sizes and two tip directions. Here, the point is towards the weave. For the other models, the weave points towards the tip. Here, the bracelet is a starry night, in black and blue tones, but you can change the colors of the Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads to create a starry bracelet to your taste. You can wear this bracelet with a festive outfit, or with a simple outfit to give it a touch of chic and sparkle, thanks to the gold tone beads and end caps.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 1

Weave the bracelet from anywhere on the pattern, except for the ends you'll weave in at the very end. This pattern requires a little more concentration than the geometric patterns. We recommend that you print out the grid and mark the beads you've strung as you go along, using a pencil. For a prettier finish, we suggest weaving the bracelet with black thread and connecting the ends to the bracelet with gold thread. If you're used to fireline fishing line, you can also use this.

Step 2

Next, weave the tips according to the diagram. You can print out the diagram and cross out the woven beads as you go to make them easier to weave. Work point by point at one end of the bracelet, then do the same at the other.

Step 3
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 3

Proceed tip by tip at one end of the bracelet, then do the same at the other.

Step 4
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 4

Once the weave is complete, move on to the gold thread. Catch it in the weave, passing randomly through the beads, and place yourself in the center bead at the end of the weave. Pass the thread around the bar of the end cap and back into the bead on the same side. Attach the bead in the same way on the other side too.

Step 5

Next, exit into the adjacent bead and make a half-turn in the beads below to exit into the third bead against the edge from the center. Attach to the end cap.

Step 6

Then attach the fourth using the same method, and so on. Bring the wire out from the side of the bead that touches the end cap. Continue attaching beads on this diagonal, then move on to the diagonal opposite. Wedge the thread randomly through the weave until it no longer slips, then cut it flush with the beads. Move on to the second part of the bracelet.

Step 7
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 7

Continue attaching the beads on this diagonal, then move on to the diagonal opposite. Wedge the thread randomly through the weave until it stops slipping, then cut it flush with the beads. Move on to the second part of the bracelet.

Step 8
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 8

Check the weave size and smooth out the extension chain by removing links with wire cutters if necessary. Attach the chain to the end cap by closing the open chain ring. Then secure the spring clasp with open rings using pliers.

Step 9
Odd peyote bracelet with weaving tips Perles & Co : Step 9

Then secure the clasp with open rings and pliers.
