How to make easy necklaces with stones?

To celebrate the gentle last days of summer and the arrival of autumn, this tutorial invites you to create three natural stone necklacesinspired by the warm, soothing hues of the season. These necklaces are part of the"Indian Summer" jewelry tutorial collection.

The first necklace is a delicate composition of Mousse Agate, enhanced by an aventurine pearl. This is framed by gilded stainless steel flower rings. The green hues of Agate Mousse are reminiscent of woodland landscapes. The second necklace is composed mainly of Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads in shades of green and gold, which blend harmoniously with tinted jade beads. This necklace is thinner and more delicate so that it can blend harmoniously between the other two necklaces. The third necklace has a drop pendant in green-tinted onyx, set in the center of the necklace. Framed by gilded stainless steel flower rings, this pretty green pendant will set off your white or floral blouse beautifully.

These necklaces breathe a bohemian spirit into your look, using raw, natural materials. Bohemian or boho jewelry often uses a mix of textures and raw colors. Natural stone beads and pendants, such as Agate Mousse, aventurine and tinted onyx, are beautiful elements that add authenticity to necklaces. Miyuki delica 11/0 beads are very fine glass beads. They add detail and finesse to the ensemble. The bag of golden Miyuki pearls contains a large number of pearls, so you can create many more necklaces. What's more, they're coated with a varnish that ensures their longevity. The clasps and metal parts are made of gold-plated stainless steel. This metal is resistant to oxidation. So you can wear your necklaces for years to come!

In the tutorial, I ran the wire twice through a crush bead, flattened it, then folded a knot cover over it. I wanted to offer a different finish, both aesthetic and easy for a beginner to achieve. Usually, crush beads are flattened with crush bead pliers, which flatten and fold the bead in half, then place a crush bead cover on top. This is the most classic finish, but quite difficult to achieve. Knot covers, on the other hand, are usually made with a thicker thread on which a knot is tied. As the thread used here is thin, because the pearls have tiny holes, I chose this combination of thin thread + crushable pearls (which replace the knots) + knot covers. If you're accustomed to finishing with crush beads and crush bead covers, you can of course use this method.

Note that you need to adjust the lengths of the cut wires to the desired necklace size. If it says 38 cm, but you want a 42 cm necklace instead, cut a wire at least 4 cm longer than indicated.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

The first Agate Mousse necklace measures a total of 38 cm. Cut 45 cm of wire. Thread a crush pearl. Place it 5 cm from the end of the wire. Press the end of the wire back into the bead. Flatten the crush bead. Thread the knot cover over the longer end of the wire, passing the short end of the wire through the hole in the knot cover. Close the knot cover over the bead to be crushed. Thread approx. 15.2 cm of Agate Mousse beads, 1 5 mm flower roundel, 5 Agate Mousse beads, 3 5 mm flower roundels, the aventurine bead and do the same on the other side. Thread the other knot cover and a crush bead. Pass the thread through the crush bead. Flatten the bead. Pass the thread through the hole in the knot cover and through the beads. Close the knot cover. Put an open ring on each knot cover and add the lobster clasp.

Step 2

The second Miyuki Delica 11/0 pearl necklace measures 40 cm.

Cut 47 cm of wire. Finish as for the Agate Mousse necklace. Repeat the following bead sequence 16 times: 10 Delica DB-0797 beads, 1 Delica DB-1832 bead, 1 Delica DB-0656 bead, 1 Delica DB-1832 bead, 1 tinted jade bead, 1 Delica DB-1832 bead, 1 Delica DB-0656 bead, 1 Delica DB-1832 bead.

Finish with 10 Delica DB-0797 beads.

Step 3

The third necklace with the drop pendant measures 43 cm.

Cut 50 cm of wire. Finish as for the Agate Mousse necklace. String 15.3 cm of Miyuki Delica DB-0656 beads, 10 Delica DB-1832 beads, 3 jade beads, 3 Delica DB-1832 beads, 3 jade beads, 3 Delica DB-1832 beads, 3 jade beads, 3 3 mm flower rondelles, 1 5 mm flower rondelle, the tinted green onyx pendant. Do the same on the other side in symmetry.
