Find out how to easily make domed ear studs with Miyuki seed beads, or other seed beads size 11/0 or smaller. These beaded earrings are very simple to make and do not require any skill in bead weaving or embroidery. They will allow you to customize your Miyuki pearl earrings or, as shown here, to embellish earring candlesticks.
As you will see in the video, this method consists in gluing the beads on a domed stud earring. There are also other techniques which consist in weaving the pearls in circles with the circular peyote technique or sewing the pearls on a felt support as in this tutorial: Pearl Drop Earrings. The problem with these two methods is that it will be very difficult to obtain a nice curved or raised effect. They allow you to obtain a flat result, therefore to stick on flat studs. The only way to obtain this curved effect other than by gluing pearls would be to embroider the pearls on a thin fabric of the same color as the pearls, then to glue it on a cabochon, and finally, to glue the cabochon in a suitable setting.
Of course, gluing pearls on metal remains a fragile technique, that's why we advise you not to use this idea for selling jewelry or for a gift, because you may have to glue the pearls again from time to time. This is still an aesthetic technique and very quick to do. It is up to you to choose the method you prefer.
The beads used with the drop candlestick are made of dyed jade. You can find them in other colors too.
