Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant

How to make a miyuki pendant?

In this tutorial, our designer Tiffanie suggests making a Miyuki pearl necklace in pastel colors, consisting of a chain and a small round miyuki pearl pendant. The weaving diagram for the pendant is taken from the Mystic Galaxy kit, released as a limited edition in 2019. We thought it would be nice for those who missed out to be able to download the weaving diagram.

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to weave beads around a weaving ring using the brick stitch technique. It's an easy-to-understand bead-weaving technique that's accessible to beginners. You can weave different types of beads onto a ring. But here we've chosen Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads, which have a regular shape. They're easier to weave and give a more even result.

Once finished, hang the pendant on the gold chain of your choice: rectangle mesh, fancy mesh, forçat mesh or gourmette mesh... you'll find a wide choice on the Perles & Co website. A little tip: consider buying your chain by the metre. That way, you can choose the length you want for the size of your necklace.
And why not match this creation with the bangle bracelet woven in circular peyote or with these triangular earrings woven in triple brick stitch, proposed in the previous tuto?

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Cut 1 m of yarn and tie it with a double knot at the 12 mm ring. Keep 10 cm of the thread end. Then thread two turquoise beads DB-0759. Place them side by side as shown in the diagram, then pass the needle around the ring and back into the second bead.

Step 2
Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant : Step 2

Turn in the 1st bead and then in the 2nd bead to form a loop between the two beads to bring them together.

Step 3
Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant : Step 3

Thread a new turquoise bead, pass the needle around the ring holding the bead next to the others then back into the bead and tighten. Repeat step 3 to attach the remaining 12 turquoise beads.

Step 4
Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant : Step 4

Connect the first and last beads in this way.

Step 5

Then like this.

Step 6

We will now weave the 1st round of pink beads outside the 12mm circle. The technique is the same as before. Without cutting the thread, first attach two pink beads and then the other 22 beads one by one.

Step 7
Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant : Step 7

Connect the first and last pink beads.

Step 8
Miyuki necklace with round Brick Stitch pendant : Step 8

Now weave the 2nd row of pink beads on top. Thread two beads, pass the needle under the thread connecting the two beads right next to where your thread exits and then back into the 2nd pink bead.

Step 9

Attach the other beads one by one. Once the last bead is woven in, go into the first bead and then back into the last bead and squeeze them together. Then place the ring 20 mm around the weave. Pass the thread around the ring and back into the next bead. Go to the next bead and repeat. Continue like this until you have gone all the way around the pendant. Catch the thread in the beads and cut it.

Step 10

Put a joining ring between the 20 mm circle and the beads and close it. Thread the chain through the ring. Attach the open rings and the clasp.
