To make a flower barrette or hair comb, you will first need to choose your holder. In this DIY tutorial, we have chosen a small gold hair clip comb with holes. The holes will allow you to hang dried flowers, mother of pearl flowers or beads. You will need to use wire to attach your accessories. You can put a flower barrette in your hair for a wedding, an anniversary or just for your own pleasure. Making your own hair accessories is easy and allows you to match your hair clips to your outfit. The beads can be attached to the comb with copper wire. Glue the dried flowers with hot glue using a glue gun. Mother of pearl flowers can also be glued, but this will hold less well than dried flowers.
To make the heart of the flowers, we used small gold beads. They are Miyuki rocailles. You can use other types of beads. For example, why not use multicolored beads? It's up to you to choose the flowers and pearls to compose your wedding or guest floral comb.
Cut 10 cm of copper wire. Thread a flower on it, then a golden bead. Thread the other end of the copper wire through the hole in the flower.
Attach the copper wire to the comb bar by passing it through the holes. Use pliers to tighten the wire. Cross them over and then back onto the front of the barrette. Then, wrap the wires under the flower around the stem of the flower.
You can also add more flowers or beads to the stem of the first flower by wrapping the copper wire around the wire of the first flower. Once you've tied it all together, trim the excess wire and flatten it against the stem with the flat pliers so it doesn't catch on the hair.
