Today, we invite you to add a little color and shine to your hair! PureCrystal, our supplier, shares its technique for creating a trio of pearl bobby pins.
If you'd like to create barrettes in a different color, more in keeping with your style, check out our range of 4 mm pearl bicones on our website.
Nothing complicated, just let yourself be guided by the detailed diagrams below
The steps:
Step 1: Take a long piece (approx. 1.50m) of 0.15mm nylon thread. Slide 4 Rose Peach Shimmer beads onto the nylon thread. Pass both ends of the thread through the 4th bead and tighten to make a loop as shown.

Step 2: The 4th bead becomes the first bead for the next loop. Slide 3 more beads onto the nylon thread, passing both ends through the last bead and tightening as before. Continue building in this way until you have 6 loops.

Step 3: Now slide the nylon thread through the bead to the right of the last loop to secure the line as shown. You're ready to start line 2. String 3 more beads, then pass the nylon thread through the same right-hand bead of line 1, as shown. This makes the 4th bead of the group and holds the two lines together as shown.

Step 4: Continue in this way, slipping 3 beads onto the thread and attaching them to line 1 until you have 6 loops in line 2. Repeat the process, moving up line 2 to create line 3 and finally, line 4.

Step 5: Once you've completed line 4, you're ready for the next step. This will create a single line of beaded loops that will fit around the center of the barrette. Slide 3 beads onto the nylon thread.

Step 6: Continue as before (step 2), building an 8 cm line.

Step 7: Now you're ready to build the other end of the jewel. This will mirror the lines 1 to 4 you completed in steps 02 to 04.

Step 8: Join this line of loops to the 4-line bead as shown. Secure with a knot.

Step 9: Now fold one end of the weave in half and join the two halves by threading crystals together along the edge. Repeat this operation on the other edge to obtain a pocket into which you slip one end of the barrette.

Step 10: Secure the nylon thread with a knot.

Step 11: Slide the barrette into the pocket.

Step 12: Now fold the other end of the bead over the barrette and secure it along both edges with additional beads (as before), so that the barrette is held securely in place. Tie off the nylon thread with a knot.

Step 13: Follow exactly the same technique as in steps 1-12 for the barette with Crystal Shimmer beads.

Step 14: For the triangular barrette, follow steps 01-05 to create a rectangular beaded piece, as illustrated. Make a single line of loops measuring 4.5 cm on each side of the piece.

Step 15: Join the 2 lines with a bead. Slide 3 more beads onto the nylon thread to make another loop.

Step 16: Add more beads as shown, accumulating on both sides. This produces an envelope to enclose the narrow end of the barrette.

Step 17: Form a loop on one side of the creation. Slide the nylon thread over the top of the piece, passing it through one of the loops you made in step 14 (diagram on right).
Then slide 4 beads onto the thread to make a complete loop. Don't pull too hard on the nylon thread.
Fold this loop under the piece, positioning it centrally under the two loops you made in step 14.

Step 18: Attach it to the adjacent loops. This creates a flap to hold the end of the barrette.

Step 19: Slide the barrette inside the flap, then tie the nylon thread with a knot. Attach it to the adjacent loops. This creates a flap to hold the end of the barrette.
Fold back the other end of the bead to enclose the wider part of the barrette. Join the edges. Tie the nylon thread with a knot.

So, what do you think of these barrettes? Which look will you wear them with?
