Here is not one, but two new necklace designs to make yourself. These two matching necklaces can be worn together or separately. You can also make only one. These necklaces are both made of beads and lucky charms. On the smaller one, an eye pendant to customize with a gemstone cabochon of your choice and on the second one, a beetle pendant which exists in several types of stones.
We offer these two necklaces in dark blue and light blue. The gemstones used are Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli. The thinner one is also made of 11/0 miyuki seed beads and Miyuki spacers. The larger one is made with polymeric heishi, metal washers and Preciosa spinners.
All these beads are available in dozens of different colors for your pleasure. The material list is for a thin neck, if you have a thicker neck, consider taking a second strand of blue heishi beads ACR-225 and an extra bag of gold flower washers MET-120. For the small necklace, cut a 50 cm thread. If you have a wide neck, use more thread. Test it around your neck before cutting it. You need 15 cm more for the finishing. Thread 1 crush bead, 1 wire guard, pass the closed ring and pass the wire back through the crush bead.
Place well the wire and the bead, keep minimum 5 cm of wire end. Flatten the bead to be crushed with a pair of flat pliers. Check that the wire does not move. You can put a 3 mm cover on the bead if you wish.
Thread 10 11/0 miyuki beads and 3 spacers. Repeat this 11 times, or more if you are making a larger necklace. The 5 cm piece of wire should be hidden in the beads. Then thread 10 spacers.
Glue the cabochon in the eye. Add a small ring to the pendant by opening the ring with two pliers. Close the ring and slide the pendant onto the necklace. Thread the same beads as before in the other direction. Then repeat step 1 to add a new closed ring at the end. Thread the thread through the beads for 5 cm and cut off the excess. Open the clasp ring and add it to one of the closed rings.
For the large necklace, cut 70 cm of thread, or more if you have a wide neck. Repeat step 1.
String the following beads this time: 3 cm light blue heishi, 3 golden washers, 3 cm heishi, 3 washers, 3 cm heishi, 3 washers, then 5 times 1 cm heishi, 1 washer, 1 top, 1 sodalite bead 4 mm, 1 top, 1 washer. Finish this first side with a spinning top.
Place a ring on the lapis lazuli scarab pendant and thread it onto the necklace. Repeat the bead sequence from step 3 and finish by adding the crush bead, the wire guard and the closed ring. Attach the clasp to one of the closed rings. You're done!
