Here's an easy DIY to make a pair of earrings with Gold Filled elements... We used a gold chain, but you can also choose a gold-filled chain.

A genuine alternative to gold, Gold Filled allows you to create costume jewelry with a finish similar to that of gold jewelry, and at a lower cost. Much more resistant than conventional gold plating, gold filled jewelry will oxidize much less quickly.

First of all, determine the length of enamelled cob chain you'll need. Since drop spacers have an inner space of 25 mm, we're assuming a chain of 4 finials, i.e. 17 mm. To avoid damaging the chain's enamel by trying to open it with pliers, you can simply cut it off at the next spike.
Open a 4 mm diameter Gold Filled ring using 2 pliers, each pivoting to one side.
Thread the ring through the herringbone chain and connect it to the inner ring of your drop spacer. To close the ring, use your 2 clips again. To ensure that your chain is correctly positioned from the front, connect it with the tips of the finials facing downwards.
To bring even more sparkle to our earrings, we're adding PureCrystal 7x4 mm Crystal Drops.
Open another ring and connect the crystal to the tip of the herringbone chain.
Open a Gold Filled earring hook with round pliers by simply pivoting on the hoop. Then thread it over the outer ring of your drop spacer and close the ring of your hook. As the earrings have identical front and back, the direction of your hook doesn't matter.
Repeat for the second earring.
