Making jewelry is very easy and relaxing. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, here is a new model of multi-row necklace for you to make with your little hands. You can follow it step by step and use the list of materials indicated at the bottom of the page, or modify it at will to create a unique necklace that looks like you. You will need a set of jewellery pliers (sharp, round and flat) and a ruler or a tape measure as tools.
This necklace is made of fancy chains of different lengths, a row of vintage pearls and a gold-plated shell pendant. Retro pearls inspired by the 2000s include smallblue and white striped seed beads , blue crystal spinners and timeless irregularly shaped freshwater pearls.
This style of necklace will go perfectly with a trendy blue Tie and Dye T-shirt, or a totally white outfit for visiting Mykonos... Yes, this is getting a bit too specific! Separate the chains to the desired lengths without cutting them. They both have links that can be opened with 2 clips. You should have a 40 cm piece of the large chain and 55 cm of the flower chain. If you don't know how to open and close a ring, go to the technical video.
On the large chain, add the buoy clasp. The small ring of the clasp can be opened to slide the chain through. Use round pliers to turn the end of the ring at the slot. Slide the chain in and do not close the ring immediately. Take a 4 mm ring and use it to attach the pendant to the centre of the chain.
Slide the second chain through the ring of the buoy clasp and close it. Attach the other end of the chain to the second to last link of the large chain (not the last link as shown in the photo) with a 4 mm open ring.
Cut a 70 cm piece of wire. Thread two squeeze beads and a closed ring. Pass through the two squeeze beads and flatten them. Pull on the wire to make sure it is secure. You should keep about 10 cm of the wire end to hide in the beads as you go along. This will allow you to adjust the necklace later if the beads to be crushed are not well secured.
Thread on both ends of the thread 15 seed beads, 1 gold spacer, 1 freshwater bead, 1 gold spacer, 5 seed beads, 1 gold spacer, 1 spinning top, 1 gold spacer, 5 seed beads, and repeat until you have 15 spinning tops and 17 freshwater beads.
Finish with 15 beads as before. Thread 2 crush beads and a closed ring. Thread through the 2 crush beads and the last beads. Crush the beads to be crushed and check that the thread is blocked. Pass the thread through the beads for 10 cm and cut the excess.
On each closed ring of the pearl necklace, add an open ring that will allow you to attach it to the rest of the necklace. Attach it to the open ring of the small chain and the ring of the buoy clasp.
With the leftover material and by simply adding a clasp to your basket, you can create a multi-row bracelet as well. Cut the longest chain to equal the size of your wrist. Attach the two chains to the clasp with open rings. For the larger chain, depending on the size of your wrist, you may need to add several rings to complete the look.
As for the necklace, cut a 30 cm piece of nylon thread. Then thread a crush bead through the clasp ring and back through the crush bead. Crush the bead with a pair of flat tongs and thread beads on both ends of the wire at the same time.
Repeat the sequence of beads in the photo. Try to center it on the bracelet. Attach the other part of the bracelet with a crush bead, as in the beginning. Go through some beads again and cut the thread. Then add some crush bead covers to the beads.
