How to make a long necklace with pearls ?

Today, in collaboration with Paulette alias Popibijoux, we propose you to make a nice necklace withfancy chains andpearlsbraidingthanks to the twisted kumihimo technique. Beads braiding can be complex when you are a beginner, but discover in this tutorial how to make without difficulty an original braiding to integrate in the creation of a necklace. You can of course use this braiding technique to create bracelets, chokers, pendants or earrings according to your desires.

This tutorial is offered in neutral colors that can be combined with your wardrobe in summer and winter. Composed ofgold-plated primers and whitepearls with iridescent reflections, this jewel will bring a touch of luminosity to your outfit and will perfectly match your tan. If you don't want to use a chain, you can extend the braided part to make a shorter choker style necklace by simply adding a clasp.

It is up to you to let your imagination run free to adapt this tutorial both in the shape and in the colors used to create a piece of jewelry that suits you. For this, find all our references of Rocailles 6/0 , round beads 4 mm as well as faceted Bohemian 4 mm.

Don't forget, we love to see the result of the creations made with our tutorials, so don't hesitate to show us your creations on our Facebook page, in ourations on ourFacebook page, in the Perles & Co customer super club or on Instagram bytagging us with @perlesandco or with #perlesandco.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

STEP 1

preparation of the wires

Cut 8 strands of C-Lon wire, each 1 meter long, and tie them around a weight.

Pass the weight through the circle of the Kumihimo disc.

Place the wires 2 by 2, on either side of each black dot on the disc: that is to say that you attach in the notch provided for this purpose, 1 wire to the left of the number 32 and 1 other to the right of this same number. And you do this for the 24, the 16 and the 8.

Step 2

Placing the beads on the strings and the disc

Place the 3 colors of beads on each wire

25 white 4mm facets to the right and left of the number 32,

25 white 4mm facets to the right and left of the number 16,

25 pearly beads 4mm to the right and left of the number 24,

25 baroque seed beads 6/0 to the right and left of the number 8.

Tie a knot at the end of each thread to avoid losing the beads during braiding.

Wrap each thread on each spool and close them well.

Step 3

Braiding

Place the threads facing you with the writing right side up, so you will have the number 32 on top.

Start by braiding about 3 cm of cord.

To do this, take the thread at the top left of the number 32 and bring it down to the bottom left of the number 17. Take the thread at the bottom right of the number 16 and bring it up to the top right of the number 1.

Make a quarter turn and proceed in the same way as before: take the thread at the top left of the number 8 and lower it to the right of the number 25.

Take the thread at the bottom right of the number 24 and bring it up to the top right of the number 9.

Make a quarter turn and always proceed in the same way.

A little tip: if you have to make a break, always leave 3 threads on one side of the disc.

For example, if you take the top left thread and bring it down to the bottom left, leave the braid as is and take a break. And when you start braiding again you will know that the bottom right thread should come up to the top right. And the braiding can resume.

Step 4

STEP 4

Inserting the beads

When you have braided the 3cm of cord, you can start to insert the beads.

The best thing is to go back to the 4 black dots so as not to get lost, i.e. start again at the 32.

It's the same braiding as in step 3 except that here you have to add beads which must be blocked under the threads.

Take the wire at the top left of 32, slide a white facet and block it under the wire at the right of 24 and place your wire at the bottom left of 17. Do the same with the bead on the bottom right of the number 16, slide a white facet and block it under the left side of the 8 and pull up the top right of the number 1.

Make a quarter turn and repeat the operation until there are no more beads.

Finish the braiding by repeating step 3 (braiding the cord of about 3 cm).

Step 5

STEP 5

Inserting the tips

Remove the pendant from the disc and tie a knot on each end and cut off the excess wire.

Put a little glue on the part that will go into the end cap (about 1cm), take some excess wire and wrap it around that end. Put a clip on it and let it dry. Do the same thing on the other end.

Once dry, cut the end to 1cm, put a dot of glue in the tip and place it on the end. Repeat the operation on the other side and let it dry.

Step 6

STEP 6

Assembling the collar

Cut 2 x 50cm of fine chain, 2 x 15 wide link chain.

Mount the two ends of the fine chain and one end of the wide link chain on a ring and close with two flat clips. Do the same on the other side.

Mount the pendant on the wide link chains with the rings and close them well.

You are done!

You can also make this pendant and mount it only on the wide link chains to make a necklace or a choker.

Bonjour,
