Gold Gipsy Earrings with Botswana Agates Tutorial

How to add semi-precious stone beads on earrings?

Adding pearls on a chandelier for earrings is not very complicated, but requires a little precision and patience to handle thecopperwire. Indeed, you will have to wind it in a regular and tight way for the rendering to be successful. The difficulty lies in consistency. Apart from this aspect, the realization of these DIY earrings requires little material. A simple kit of 3 jewelry clips will suffice. These are pliers that you will use all the time for jewelry creation (and even in everyday life!).

Customize these earrings with your favorite gemstones by choosing from our selection of 4mm stone beads. For example with tiger eye, amazonite, or howlite beads. The candlesticks, rings and studs used are gold plated . If you wish to use precious materials for your earrings, you can use 0.3 mm gold filled wire and 2 mm gold filled beads instead of copper wire and brass beads.

These earrings will give a sophisticated and sought after look to any streetwear or bohemian look.

Tutorial steps

Photo seen from the back.

Cut about 80 cm of wire.
Wrap the wire 4 times around the top of the pendant, tightly, to the right of the first scroll. Thread a 2.5 mm gold round, wedge it at the base of the first scroll, wrap the thread 4 times around the first scroll.
Thread a 4 mm Botswana Agate bead, wrap the thread several times around the pendant tightly.
Continue in this way, alternating the 2.5 mm gold rounds and the 4 mm gemstone beads, winding the thread before each bead.
Finish with a 2.5 mm gold bead in the hollow of the last scroll, then wind the thread around the pendant 4 times, tightening it well. Cut the wire.

Connect the chandelier with the beads to the ear stud with an open ring.

Use two round or flat pliers to open the ring. Do not open the ring by pulling the ends apart, but by rotating them on the same axis so as not to distort them. Close the ring by rotating the ends again and make a slight back and forth at the end to position the ends against each other without leaving a gap.

See our technical sheet"How to open and close a ring" to observe the gestures to have.
