How to make a Miyuki bangle bracelet ?

If you do not yet know the Miyuki Delicas, these are small glass seed beads , cylindrical in shape and perfectly regular. Miyuki is the manufacturer of these small pearls called Delicas. The most used size is the Delicas 11/0 size. It is in particular the size of pearls used in this tutorial of woven bracelet. But be aware that you can also create bracelets and earrings with the smallest size, the Miyuki delicas 15/0 . The larger the number, the smaller the pearls.

Different types of finishes exist for woven bracelets , including some using tips for weaving as presented in the tutorials below.

In this tutorial we will stick the weaving on a cuff in golden brass but you can very well mount it as a flexible bracelet by fixing at each end a closed ring and then adding a clasp and open rings just like the last tutorial on the list . Be careful to check the size of the bracelet as you weave it. Shorten or lengthen it by changing the number of repetitions of similar parts of the diagram.

Enlarge or shrink the brass band before sticking the weaving on it because the adjustments of the bracelet afterwards risk loosening the bracelet or breaking the pearls.

  1. Cut 1.5 m of thread, pass it through a size 12 weaving needle and thread the 9 beads indicated on the video which correspond to two rows / columns of beads on the diagram.
  2. Thread the gray bead that corresponds to the first bead in the third row and pass the needle through the penultimate bead threaded in step 1.
  3. Continue threading the beads according to the diagram and passing the needle only in every other pearl of step 1.
  4. To turn around and place the needle correctly to start the fourth row, go through the two black pearls and the golden one, then go up following the three black pearls. Go to the golden one which is the last pearl of the third row.
  5. Continue to weave the pattern by checking the beads as you go.
  6. For the tip on each side make a decrease. For this you must always pass your needle through the beads to replace it in the correct direction to continue weaving. Find explanatory diagrams of another variant of this technique in our toolbox: How to make a reduction in Peyote Odd .
  7. Wedge the wire in the beads and cut it.
  8. Put jewelry glue in the center of the brass bracelet and glue the bracelet to it by centering it.
