How to make a pearl bracelet on a loom with miyuki pearls?
Do you want to try your hand at weaving pearls on a loom? Here is a little tutorial just for you. We quickly review the basics of pearl weaving , if you have never used a loom and want to really learn the technique we recommend these technical sheets and videos:
You can provide different finishes for this bracelet, either the version with the chain as presented here, or with the weaving ends by not finishing the pointed bracelet, or stick your bracelet on a brass cuff.
We give you these references in link in the material list at the bottom of the page.
This bracelet has been woven with a chain as outer threads, but you can also replace it with a simple weaving thread or a cord if you don't like it. Also note that the point finish of the weaving slightly curls these edges and that the thread will be very visible. We have given you another grid for a straight finish which will allow you to hide the threads more easily if you wish and to use weaving ends. It's up to you to choose the finish that suits you best!

1- If you want to use the chain, attach it to the loom by making a knot otherwise go directly to step 2 and add two other threads.

2- Then add 14 warp threads to the loom. For this attach the end of the thread still on its spool to one of the nails of the loom, go to the other side and surround the thread with the other nail. Return to the first nail and so on until you have the 14 wires installed. Then cut the wire leaving 15 cm end to be able to tie the knot on the first nail.

3- Cut 2 m of thread, thread it on a needle and make a double knot with the end on one of the links of the chain without being too close to the beginning of the loom. If you want a point finish, keep 30 cm of end of wire. We will make the spikes at the end. If you want to weave a straight bead, 15 cm of end of thread will suffice.

4- Thread the first row of pearls after the point, pass under the threads, come out in a chain link opposite the start link, place the pearls little by little between each wire and iron in the pearls with the needle - above the warp threads. The beads are thus wedged between the threads.

5- Tighten your weaving a bit before moving on to the second row. Tighten as you go.

6- Continue weaving following the diagram, you can check the boxes. If you have to change the thread. Make a double knot on one edge and iron in the previous beads. Take a new thread, tie a knot and hide the end of the thread in the beads as well before resuming your weaving.

7- We will start the decrease to make the peak. If you do not cut all the threads keeping a maximum of length and enter them in the weaving one by one with the needle to hide them. For the decrease thread the pearls indicated on the diagram. Place them in the center by skipping the location created by the outside wires. Tighten as you weave each time you make a decrease. Even if you do not put pearls between these wires, still think of encircling them with your wire as if there were indeed pearls.

8- You will have to tighten a lot at the end. Then, cut all the threads while keeping a maximum of length and enter them in the weaving one by one with the needle to hide them. Towards the end the needle will no longer pass through the pearls so slide them along the bracelet before arriving at rows of pearls where you can slip them without difficulty.

9- Place a ring to connect the two ends of the chain. Test the bracelet on your wrist before determining where to cut the chain. Add rings, a clasp and a tassel.

10- Put hypoallergenic varnish on the back to stiffen the bracelet, protect it from sweat and avoid small allergies to nickel if you have ever chosen to keep the original pearl reference.
