How to create a multi-row necklace with shells?
The creation of costume jewelry is accessible to all. Pearls and Co presents a new easy jewel tutorial . Create a necklace with Heishi style washers in shell and a lucky Lucie eye pendant . You just need a set of 3 jewelry clips to make this diy shell necklace.
The eye of Saint Lucia is the operculum of a shell called Turbo Rough. When he grows up he gets rid of his operculum and creates another. It is found on the beaches of the Mediterranean, including Corsican and the beaches of Asia. This lucky charm is also called "Eye of Venus", "Eye of the Virgin" or "Eye of Shiva".
The legend behind Saint Lucia's eye is found in many countries even though the protagonists change according to the beliefs of the people. For Corsica, the story tells that Saint Lucia prayed relentlessly to the Virgin Mary to heal her mother with an incurable disease. She tore out her eyes and threw them into the sea so as not to turn away from her faith and drive away the suitors. The Virgin Mary listened to her prayers and looked after her mother. She also gave him the sight by giving him beautiful bright eyes.
And right now, the steps to make your lucky necklace!
Step 1 :
Cut the knot on one side of the shirred wire and remove the washers until you have only 10 cm of shells. Add 5 rhombus hematites , 1 cm of shell washers, 1 rhombus, 0.5 cm of shell washers, 1 rhombus, 0.5 cm of shell, 1 rhombus, 0.5 cm of shell, and continue adding 10 rhombuses and 0 , 5 cm of shell 6 times. Finish with 5 rhombus pearls.
2nd step :
Thread a crimp bead and a gilded closed ring. Iron the thread into the crimp bead and into the previous beads to hide it. You can use a pair of pliers to pull the thread. Preferably use a crimp bead pliers to bend the bead in half (see: technical sheet on how to flatten a crimp bead ) and if not, flatten it with flat pliers.
Step 3:
Cut the second knot and make the same sequence of beads on the other side so that the necklace is symmetrical. Make the same finish as in step 2.
Step 4:
Connect the spring clasp to the collar with an open ring 6 mm on each side. Thread the necklace and cut a piece of string for the second part of the necklace by testing the length on you.
Step 5:
Open an open ring 6 mm wide by rotating the ends. Slip it into the hole of Saint Lucia's eye and close it. Thread the shell on the chain and the gold medallion.
Step 6:
Open the 6 mm rings of the clasp again and slide the ends of the chain before closing them.
