For a very long time, we mastered the recycling of glass to make new bottles, jars, flasks ... And why not beads!
At Perles and co, we are sensitive to environmental issues and sustainable development. So we had to tell you about this initiative!
Faced with the fact that the planet's resources are being wasted, we had to think about the best way to limit our impact on the environment. The glass factories have mobilized all their know-how in Bohemian glass to find the best way to make 100% recycled glass beads.
As glass is infinitely reusable and recyclable, it can be melted and remelted at will without any loss of raw material, and while keeping the same characteristics and quality as non-recycled glass. Moreover, this hard and transparent material that we know well is perfectly malleable when in a liquid state. This makes it possible to create many new objects, including beads!
The beads, created from recycled glass pieces, allow you to make quality DIY costume jewelry while doing something for the planet. Nice, isn't it?

Recycled glass beads are made following the same process as any other recycled glass object.
The collected glass is first sorted and cleaned. It is then crushed into small pieces. Then it is placed in a furnace where it is melted at high temperatures.
Once it has the appearance of a homogeneous paste, it has become a malleable material ready to be worked. The molten glass is then put into molds to make new glass beads.
Once cooled and cut, the beads can finally undergo the same finishing treatment as any other glass bead: polishing, color coating...
