How to make a straight brazilian bracelet ?

There are many ways to make a Brazilian bracelet or friendship bracelet. One can either try to make one without a diagram by using a simple repeating pattern and alternating colors. These are very well known models like Brazilian bracelets herringbone patterns or ears. These models are very easy and we advise you to start with these. Here is a list of data sheets to help you master the basics of creating Brazilian bracelets:

Either we can follow tutorials that show us step by step the tying order of the threads like this video on the realization of a friendship diamond or rhombus diamond bracelet . Or you can buy a book with models of Brazilian bracelets or find free diagrams on the internet. There is for example on the site Friendship-bracelets . This site also offers a mini online software that allows you to create your own grids.

In the latter case the bracelets are presented in the form of diagrams or grids. We will show you through this video tutorial how to read these grids. This is not very complicated but we must stay focused on the diagram and on his bracelet. You can help you find yourself in your weaving by checking in pencil the knots already made.

  • A wire friendship bracelet grate is as below. The color lines represent the threads and the circles represent the nodes. We can thus see on the diagram that there is a total of 4 light blue threads, 2 white threads and 2 dark blue threads. The ideal way to find your bearings is to use a micro-macrame tray as on the video. This makes it easy to put the wires back in the right order.
  • The diagram is read from left to right and from top to bottom. We first realize the first line of nodes then we go to that of below by starting from the left. The arrows indicate the direction of the nodes.
  • An arrow from left to right means you have to make a double knot with the thread on the left. This thread will go over the right-hand thread forming a loop on its left then pass under the right wire to come out in the loop. You have to do this knot twice.
  • An arrow from right to left means that you have to make a double knot back with the thread on the right. This thread will pass over the left-hand thread forming a loop on its right and then pass under the left-hand thread to exit in the loop. You have to do this knot twice.
  • An arrow that starts from the left to the right then from the right to the left means that you have to make a knot, then back, with the thread on the left. This thread will go over the right-hand thread forming a loop on its left then pass under the right wire to come out in the loop. The second node is in the other direction but with the same thread.
  • An arrow that starts from the right to the left then from the left to the right means that you have to tie a knot and then place with the thread on the right. This thread will pass over the left-hand thread forming a loop on its right and then pass under the left-hand thread to exit in the loop. The second node is in the other direction but with the same thread.

Print and download the diagram below to be able to follow it step by step at the same time as the video. Find more information on the tutorial by clicking on this link: Brazilian bracelet blue diamond pattern.
