Brazilian bracelets or bracelets of friendship are for many of us a childhood memory. Who did not want to (re) dive into this very special world of macrame weaving? Go farther than simply weaving chevron or using the leftover embroidery threads of the grandmother?
It was on a rainy Friday in August that we decided to present this Facebook Live on the theme of Brazilian bracelets. We have tested for you other types of yarn than the classic cotton yarns from DMC . Of course for those who wish to find the nostalgia of their childhood, we offer you in this range of products a large choice of colors. Nowadays many other sons exist, with their own specificities. We will test them in this live and give you our feeling.
Comparative threads:
0.7 mm waxed linen thread : A somewhat stiff thread that leaves a little space between the knots. Very nice color rendition. Fibers with a natural look. Ideal for a wide bracelet with little thread and a handmade look. Do not make a sliding knot for the finish because it will not resist long friction. Can not be melted.
C-LON Beading Cord 0,5 mm : Synthetic nylon thread. Very beautiful colors and reflections. Very good in time. Resists rubbing so perfect for a slip-on finish. Making and undoing knots is very easy. A little rigid so holes between the nodes but satisfactory appearance. A very large color palette is available on the site. Can be melted.
Linhasita yarn : Brazilian origin yarn designed for micro-macrame. It is also a synthetic thread, polyester which is covered with a wax that gives it a tacky feel but allows to make knots that hold in place. Appearance more silky and matte than the C-Lon Beading Cord. Regular weaving. Take 0.5mm for bracelets rather than 1mm. Resists quite well to friction. Can be melted.
Pearl Cotton thread # 5 : The thread used in the Facebook Live is a size 5. It is very suitable for weaving friendship bracelets. Very flexible thread. The knots are easy to make but not easy to undo. Does not resist rubbing so do not finish with a sliding knot. Do not melt. Similar result to skeins made of milled cotton but the yarn does not split easily, so it is easier to weave.
