Cut small 1 mm solder straws from a brass plate. Flatten it with a hammer to refine it, then sand it to degrease it.
Take the crimp. File the ends to match perfectly and to remove grease.
Then place the two ends face to face so that they touch.
Place the crimp on the refractory brick. Apply borax where you want the brazing filler material to flow.
Be careful not to apply borax everywhere, only at the joint.
Place the soldering straw on the seam inside the crimp. Heat the seam on either side of the joint so that the wire heats up and melts the straw.
If the straw moves as the water in the borax evaporates, reposition it using tweezers.
Continue heating.
Cut the flashlight immediately after the straw has melted completely.
Put the crimp in water to cool it down, and check that the brazing has been carried out correctly.
If there is any oxidation, remove it from the crimp.
