Japanese beads, size 11/0 (approx. 1.27 mm in the direction of the hole, 1.6 mm in diameter).
Silk Satin" Delicas are made of fiberglass to achieve a "silk satin" effect, which makes these beads more fragile than classic Delicas and a little more irregular. The fiberglass edge is protruding and can cut the weaving thread.
Here are a few tips for using Miyuki Delica Silk beads to enjoy their effect without their drawbacks:
- Use this ultra-resistant Fireline thread
- Don't use Silk on the edges of your weavings. Their edges are a little sharp and may cut the thread. Use them inside the weave.
- Preferably, use them sparingly in your weaves.
- Avoid using them in weaves where the thread is likely to rub on the edge of the beads. Ex: the central part of herringbone weaves.
