What are freshwater pearls?Freshwater pearls are natural pearls bred in the fresh waters of rivers and lakes.
These pearls are nucleated using organic material, usually a fragment of shell, so that the bead is made exclusively of mother-of-pearl.
Nature never does the same thing twice, which is why beads vary in shape and size.
Some are round or oval, others are long or twisted. It's these irregularities that give them their charm.
Biwa pearls were originally cultivated on Lake Biwa in Japan. Hence the name! They are renowned for their different shapes and colors.
This freshwater bead has an AA grade, which means it has good luster and slight imperfections. Its excellent quality makes it ideal for creations that are both beautiful and affordable.
