How to hook a trapilho basket?

Zak said, "The big basket with the handles that holds just about anything. At home, I use it as a knitting basket. I put my work in progress and my balls in it." In his latest book, Smile, You're Knitting. Prisma Publishing. Follow the step-by-step instructions to crochet your basket in trapilho yarn and don't hesitate to change yarn colours, we have more than 30 bobbins of Hoooked Ribbon XL DMC yarn.

Thanks Zaksaid for sharing the tutorial!

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Material:

Hook no. 10 or no. 12, depending on the size of the thread

1 ball of DMC Hoooked Zpagetti (enough to make a plain basket; if not, get 3 colours: A, B and C)

Attention: This thread comes from the textile industry, it is fabric, usually jersey, cut into thread (more or less wide) to make a huge bobbin. The flexibility and thickness can vary, and therefore affect the size of your basket.

Step 2

Points used :

Mesh in the air : ml

Tight mesh: ms

Cast mesh: mc

Increase: aug

If you are new tocrochet, we recommend that you watch our video tutorial to learn the basics of crochet .

Step 3

Realization :

Starting with the A-wire:

Turn 1: 6 ms in a magic circle. Don't forget to tighten the center of your circle.

Caution: Reposition the marker at the beginning of each new turn so that you can then clearly recognize the end of this turn (which will therefore correspond to the stitch preceding the marker).

Turn 2: 2 ms in each ms (aug) of the previous turn (= 12 ms).

Turn 3: *1 ms in the next mesh, then 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the turn, i.e. 6 times in total (= 18 ms).

Round 4: *1 ms in the next 2 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, i.e. 6 times in total (= 24 ms).

Round 5: *1 ms in the next 3 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, 6 times in total (= 30 ms).

Round 6: *1 ms in the next 4 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, i.e. 6 times in total (= 36 ms).

Round 7: *1 ms in the next 5 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, 6 times in total (= 42 ms).

Round 8: *1 ms in the next 6 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, i.e. 6 times in total (= 48 ms).

Round 9: *1 ms in the next 7 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, i.e. 6 times in total (= 54 ms).

Round 10: *1 ms in the next 8 ms, 2 ms in the next mesh (aug)*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round, i.e. 6 times in total (= 60 ms).

Round 11 (Only for this round): Hook 1 ms taking only the back strand. This will give you a nice flat background (= 60 ms).

Turns 12 to 16: 1 ms in each mesh (= 60 ms).

Cut thread A and tuck it in.

With thread B :

Turns 17 to 20: Hook 1 ms in each stitch (= 60 ms).

Turn 21 (You are going to create the handles): Crochet 11 ms, 8 ml, pass 8 ms from the previous turn, 22 ms, 8 ml, pass 8 ms, 11 ms.

Cut thread B and tuck it in.

With thread C:

Round 22: Crochet 60 ms, i.e. you'll crochet the first 11 ms, then crochet around the ml 8 ms, then 22 ms, crochet again.

8 ms around the ml and finally 11 ms.

Turns 23 to 26: 1 ms in each mesh (= 60 ms).

Turn 27: For a nice finish, crochet 1 mc in all the ms of the previous turn, finish with 1 mc in the 1st ms. Cut and tuck in the threads.
