In this new bead weaving tutorial, our creative partner Sophie aka Elyconia, teaches you how to make this magnificent 3D beaded fish. This creation is made using three weaving techniques to further master brick stitch, peyote and herringbone. In the video, we guide you through each step to give you detailed explanations and teach you how to weave this shape.
However, knowledge of these three techniques is recommended before embarking on this project, as you'll need to master the tension and dexterity required to hold the object in place. Especially for 3D fish scales, where there's a lot of diminishing and careful handling involved. It's advisable to carry out this project with concentration and care.
To make the head and tail of the fish, you can download the detailed grid of the two motifs in pdf format, with the corresponding bead colors. However, I strongly advise you to follow this tutorial in its entirety, to understand how the different techniques work together to create a beautiful fish.
The fish can be used in a variety of ways: as a handmade keyring, an original piece of bag jewelry or a long necklace.
We've created this fish in seasonal colors to reflect the sea theme, but of course you're free to create and adapt your own color combinations. We have a wide choice of Delica beads on the site, so feel free to make your own selection. For the hook, we suggest a gold snap hook, but you can also choose a silver color, or opt for a chain if you'd like to wear it around your neck!
