With the arrival of autumn, it's the perfect time to bring a touch of renewal to your jewelry collection by adopting warm, seasonal hues. To inspire you, our creative partner Sandrine aka Moon & Sun offers this tutorial on woven earrings with bangs.
Original, colorful and infinitely customizable, they let you express your style while adding a unique touch to your outfit. Whether you're new to jewelry-making or already a DIY enthusiast, this type of project offers a great opportunity to discover the technique of bead weaving and develop your creativity. In this tutorial, you'll find two versions of the creations: a streamlined version without bangs, ideal for a minimalist style, and a more original version with bangs, for a trendy, bohemian look. The weaving technique used for bangs is double brick stich. If you haven't mastered it yet, don't worry: it's explained in detail in step 8.
For this model, we've chosen a palette of autumnal colors, perfect for the season. But feel free to personalize your curls by selecting your own combinations from our wide selection of Delica 11/0 beads. Attach a 50 cm wire to the bar at the top of the circle and string the first 4 beads in the pattern.

Slide the beads into position between the two bars. Wrap the thread around the lower bar, then back into the 4 beads. The first line is now complete.

Thread the next 4 beads according to the diagram. Pass behind the top bar with the needle, slide the beads between the two bars, wrap the thread around the bottom bar and then back into the beads.

Repeat step 3 to complete all 23 rows.

Add the ear hook if you want to stop at this pretty creation.

Weave the first line of double brickstitch directly onto the circle.
To do this, start by threading the first 4 beads in the pattern. Pass the thread back around the support and pull the needle up only in the last 2 beads. Pass the thread back through the first 2 beads and out through the last two beads (optional). Then thread 2 beads, pass the thread behind the support and wind up in these 2 beads.
You'll need 23 rows. Repeat this step until you have 23 rows.

For the first fringe, thread 20 beads. Leave the last bead free, then thread your needle through all the other beads, working your way up. The needle should also pass through the 2 beads on the base line.

Then lower the needle into the next row.

Add each fringe one by one, repeating the operation. Refer to the diagram for the exact number of beads required for each fringe.

To finish weaving, tie a double knot with the thread around the circle and hide the end of the thread in the last fringe.
