How to make spiral bracelets with crochet?

Domi Moreau alias Minou84 offers you today an assortment of spiral crochet bracelets (or beaded crochet). Pretty bracelets in blue shades that can be worn alone or in accumulation with other jewelry in all seasons! At Perles&Co, we are fans! So if you also fall for this trio of bracelets, it's a good opportunity to get into the crochet spiral. It's a technique that can be a bit scary for beginners but once it is mastered, it's a treat (and then you have to start one day!).

On a technical level, this tutorial requires cast on stitches. To learn more, go to our "Learn" section to discover all our technical sheets on the crochet spiral:
- How to make a crochet spiral with beads?
- How to read a crochet spiral pattern?
- How to make crochet spiral jewelry?

You will discover in these contents all the necessary information to launch you in the realization of this tutorial. All three bracelets are made with 11/0 seed beads, Lizbeth cotton thread size 40 and hook no. 1. There are 8 beads per round and the total length is 18cm( including thecord ends ). To this length you have to add the clasp and the extension chain (very practical in the case of a gift). You can however adjust the length of your bracelet by creating a sequence of plus or minus.

The navy blue bracelet is entirely plain and does not require a grid reading since there are no patterns. On the other hand, this will be the case for the turquoise blue with "plumetis" and the white with blue flowers. With these three bracelets, you can gradually learn the technique.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 1

Here is the material you need for the bracelet . Note that for the set of clasp tips, the distance between the 2 tips diameter 8mm, is 3.5 cms. So to make a bracelet of 19 cms total length, we hook a spiral of 15.5 cms. There is no threading grid.To know the length of threading your R11, there is a calculation to do: 15.5 cms (length to crochet) x 8 (number of beads per turn) = You will need to thread 1.24 meter of R11 Miyuki ref 4281 (It takes 2x8g)

Step 2
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 2

Make a chain of 8 stitches, close in the round. Crochet 3 rows of 8 stitches close together and then start crocheting your beads. You need 8 R11 per round. You crochet in spiral, there is no stop or step up at the end of each row. You move forward continuously, bringing your R11 to the right of the hook as shown in the photo, and you pull your thread by folding everything. And this for each bead.

Step 3
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 3

Check very often, that you have 8 beads per round. For the second round, you pick your hook under the bead of the previous row. You fold this bead to the right of the hook, you bring the bead to crochet to the right of the hook, and you make your stitch cast on.

Step 4
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 4

In the row of beads you just hooked, the R11s are "up in the air". They will be horizontal when you make the next turn. Continue like this until just under 15.5 cms in length. Finish with 2 or 3 rows of tight stitches without beads. Let's move on to the finishing touches

Step 5
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 5

It's time to glue the end caps. Detach the two parts. Glue with Hasulith, the inside of the 2 tips of diameter 8mm, glue lightly the end of the cotton part without beads. Push your work well into the tips. Let dry 24 hours, before trying to round your bracelet.

Step 6
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 6

Plumetis bracelet . You need 2x8g Miyuki R11 ref 148fr, 1x8g Miyuki R11 ref 4202. Lizbeth 40 white cotton, hook n°1, tips and clasp diameter 8mm.

Step 7
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 7

Here is the grid with column to be threaded. Each square represents the color of the beads (light blue and gold here). The numbers next to them are the number of beads of each color to string. We read the columns, and we always thread from top to bottom and from left to right , starting with the column of numbers on the left (here there is only 1 column but very often there are several columns on the crochet grids). Knowing that to make 1 cm you need to crochet about 7 rows of cast on stitches, you will have to thread this grid 27 times. We call sequence, the totality of the columns of threading, of a grid. We start crocheting with the last bead threaded.

Step 8
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 8

Proceed in the same way as the plain bracelet.

Step 9
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 9

Blue Flowers bracelet. You need 1x8g White Miyuki ref 402, 1x8g Light Blue ref 148fr, 1x8g Navy Blue ref 4281, 1x8g Gold ref 4202, Lizbeth40 white cotton, hook n°1, clasp tips diameter 8mm

Step 10
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 10

For the threading follow the pdf grid "blue flowers". There are 2 columns. Start the threading by the left column, from top to bottom, then go to the next column, (we go from left to right) and thread from top to bottom ........ To know that 10 rows = 1.5 cms. It will be necessary to thread 11 sequences to have the desired length. The picture shows you the threading of a complete sequence (the 2 columns).

Step 11
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 11

First complete sequence, crocheted. There are 10 rows, length 1,5 cms.

Step 12
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 12

Your patterns are well aligned.

Step 13
Assortment of spiral crochet bracelets with Miyuki beads : Step 13

The 11 sequences are crocheted. The spiral is a little longer than the two previous ones. Check by threading the tips without glue..... A little bit longer? Don't be afraid, you can cut a part of the cotton without beads. Your spiral won't fall apart!!!!!

Finish as for the two previous bracelets. Let it dry well for 24 hours

Bonjour,
