Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread

How to make a micro-macramé bracelet with Linhasita wire 0,35 mm ?

Want to try your hand at macramé or micro-macramé? You may not know the difference between the two. Macramé is simply a technique to make knots with wire to create decorative objects (hanging plants, mirrors, cushions etc.). You will find a small selection of macramé decorating tutorials on our site.

And micro-macramé, as its name indicates, is simply the same thing but in a miniature version (and therefore with thinner threads!). Micro-macramé generally allows you to make very fine jewelry. Delphiny offers you to make a bracelet made of a single macramé stitch (except for the sliding knot), easy to make, and which looks like lace in the end. This very fine and delicate finish is due to the use of Linhasita waxed thread 0.35 mm (thread that also exists in other diameters: 0.5mm, 0.75mm and 1mm)

You will find in this tutorial how to make this bracelet in a version with 2 colors and 18 threads. Once you understand the positioning of the wires and the technique, it's up to you! Dozens of options are available to you, you can start on a monochrome or multicolor version, a version more or less wide by adapting the number of threads. Let your creativity run wild, the possibilities are endless! Some examples are proposed at the end of this tutorial.

For the model proposed in this tutorial, you will need :

- 2 spools of Linhasita thread 0.35 mm
- 1 thread of 30 cm
- 18 threads of 110 cm (4 golden and 14 coral)

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 1

Cut a 30 cm wire. Place it horizontally on your stand. If you are using a Macramé Board, use the side notches to hold the wire in place, or use clips, for example, on another stand.

This is a temporary wire, which will be removed later.

Then place one of the 110 mm wires vertically under the horizontal wire. Leave 20 cm above the horizontal wire.

Step 2
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 2

Make 2 stick knots.

To do this, pinch together, with your thumb and forefinger, the intersection of the 2 threads (here represented by a needle). 1/ Take the bottom of the vertical thread and pass it on the horizontal thread. 2/ Pass it under the horizontal thread 3/ come out in the loop created and 4/ tighten well.

The first stick knot is made.

Step 3
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 3

Creation of the 2nd baguette knot: proceed in the same way a second time: 1/ Take the bottom of the vertical thread and pass it on the horizontal thread. 2/ Pass it under the horizontal wire 3/ come out in the created loop and 4/ tighten well.

We then obtain 2 vertical bars (baguettes).

Step 4
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 4

Proceed in this way for the 18 threads, placing them as follows: 2 golden threads - 14 coral threads - 2 golden threads.

Gather them well next to each other.

Step 5
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 5

The threads are ready to start weaving. The goal is to work the threads 2 by 2.

We start by isolating the first 2 threads on the left. The A wire is the carrier wire. It is always above the second thread. The B thread is the one that will make the 2 knots.

We will work here from left to right.

Take thread A and point it to the right, above thread B. Make a stick knot with thread B on thread A: 1/ thread B passes on thread A, then 2/ under thread A, 3/ passing back through the loop of thread B. 4/ Tighten the knot all the way up.

Step 6
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 6

Then tie a second identical knot. You get 2 oblique stick knots.

Step 7
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 7

Reserve wires A and B on the left, and take the next 2 wires C and D.

Proceed in the same way: take the carrying wire C and orient it to the right, above the wire D. Make a stick knot with the wire D on the wire C: 1/ the wire D passes on wire C, then 2/ under thread C, passing back through the loop of thread D. Tighten the knot all the way to the top. Then make a second identical knot. You get 2 oblique bars. Reserve the C&D threads on the left.

Step 8
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 8

Repeat this process with each of the 2 wires that follow on the right.

The first line is finished.

Step 9
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 9

Now the operation will be repeated, but in reverse, from right to left.

Isolate the last gold wire on the right (R). Now repeat the rod knot with the next two wires (P & Q), this time from right to left. The right wire (Q) represents the support wire. It is always on top. The P wire is the one that will make the 2 knots.

Take wire Q and point it to the right, above wire P. Make a stick knot with wire Pon wire Q: 1/ wire P goes over wire Q, then 2/ under wire Q, passing back through the loop of wire P. Tighten the knot all the way to the top. Then make a second identical knot. You get 2 slanted bars. Reserve the P & Q threads on the right and proceed in the same way with the 2 following threads on the left (N & O).

Step 10
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 10

Continue this way to the end of the line. The last knots on the left are made with the C and B yarns. The two rows are then completed, while wire A will be recovered to start the next row, to the right.

Step 11
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 11

For the 3rd row, we go back to the right. We recover the threads A and B, and we start again from the step 5.

Advice:to never wonder in which direction to go and where we are, I advise you: 1/ to position on your support a post-it with an arrow allowing you never to forget in which direction the carrying threads must go. The post-it is to be reversed at each new row. 2/ always make a whole row before stopping to not lose the thread.

Step 12
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 12

After you have completed a number of rows and to easily reassemble your work on your stand, you can unhook the temporary horizontal thread and pull hard on it to release it. Stretch all the threads upwards to make them flat again.

Step 13
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 13

The bracelet made here measures 16 cm. It will then be completed with a sliding knot to adjust its length.

For a perfectly symmetrical bracelet, as in this example, the last row of the work must stop when the 2 golden threads have made 2 baguette knots. You will then be back to the initial situation on the other side of the bracelet.

Step 14
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 14

How to make the triangle to end each end of the bracelet:

Row 1: Start as in Step 9, throwing the R thread to the side, right, and beginning the knots with the P and Q threads. Continue this process until the end of the row.

Step 15
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 15

Row 2: we leave the A and B wires on the left and start the nodes with the next wires. At the end of the row, it does not make the nodes with the last wires, Q & R.

Step 16
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 16

Row 3 to the left: leave wires P, Q and R aside, to the right, and resume knotting with carrier wire to the left, starting with wires O and N. Stop before the end, not tying knots with wires A, B, C and D.

Step 17
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 17

Row 4 to the right: we start the row with the E & F wires. We stop on the right, leaving the N to R wires aside.

Step 18
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 18

Row 5 to the left: we continue according to the same principle, leaving the wires N to R aside to the right. We continue with the following wires to the left.

Step 19
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 19

Continue to do the same with the last 3 rows, until you have 2 golden threads at the end of the triangle.

You can now proceed in exactly the same way for the other triangle of the bracelet.

Step 20
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 20

You can now cut the wires on each side, taking care to keep the 2 golden wires at the end of each of the 2 triangles. Then burn the excess wires with a lighter.

Step 21
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 21

Last step: use one of the cut wires to make the slip knot to finish the bracelet.

See section xxx for all the details to create it.

Finally add small Miyuki beads before making a knot at the end of each golden thread (average length of each golden thread: 7 cm, to be adapted according to the size of your handle).

Step 22
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 22

Now it's up to you! This model can be declined endlessly in terms of number of colors and number of threads. Here are some examples.

1. Bracelet with 12 wires, monochrome.

Step 23
Plain or patterned bracelets in micro macramé with Linhasita waxed thread : Step 23

2. Bracelets of 8 threads, monochrome.

Step 24

Delphiny - LA CREATION COMME PASSION !
