What to do with Miyuki delicas 15/0 beads?

Whether you choose to make this Miyuki bracelet with 15/0 delicas as on the model, 11/0 or 10/0, the technique will be the same. It is a weaving on a pearl loom. This technique is accessible to beginners. The bracelet is finished with a sliding knot that will allow you to do without a clasp and will fit any wrist size.

Don't know the difference between 10, 11 and 15/0 delicas? These numbers correspond to the size of the beads. The smaller the number, the larger the bead. Normally this number corresponds to the number of beads needed to make 1 inch. 1 inch = 25.4 mm.

15/0 is the smallest size of delicas available. Most people prefer to weave with 11/0 or, in the case of people who can see a little less well, with 10/0 which is also much easier to handle. The 15/0 beads require a good sight and a good skill. However, they give a fine and detailed result. It is up to you to choose the size that suits you best. The tutorial remains the same, only the number of beads in the length of the bracelet will change.

The warp wire used, the wire placed on the loom, is new to Perles and Co. It is Linhasita wire 0.35 mm. The Linhasita thread is a special micro macramé thread. In our case, it is a thread that is sufficiently resistant to tension and friction to be used for our slipknot. It is available in many colors, as well as in gold and silver.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 1

If you have a large loom, attach 6 threads to the loom. To do this, do not cut your thread from the spool. Hang the thread on one of the nails, run it over the loom to the nail on the other side. Wrap it around the nail and back to the beginning nail, wrap it around and so on.

If you ever have the same small loom model as in the photo, you will need to lengthen the thread, because otherwise your threads will be too short to make a sliding closure. Instead of winding 6 threads, wind 10 threads. Then cut the thread and remove the threads from the loom. Replace them by wrapping the thread around the log instead of the nail so you can artificially lengthen it.

Attach the 6 threads and tie a knot on the nail. Cut a piece of weaving wire about 1.5 m long. Tie the piece of yarn on one of the outer threads placed on the loom. Keep 30 cm of the thread end for the tip finish later. Tie a double knot.

Step 2
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 2

String the first 5 beads of the weave, 2 silver, 1 pink and 2 silver. Pass the thread with the beads under the loom threads. Place each bead between two lilac threads. Hold them in place with your finger underneath. Pass through the beads again with the needle, making sure the needle goes over the loom threads.

Repeat with the second row of the weave and so on. Be careful, if you have taken 11/0 or 10/0 beads you will have to shorten the weaving grid. Here is a technical sheet to help you calculate the size and modify the length of your bracelet: Calculating the length and width of a beaded bracelet.

Step 3
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 3

When the weft thread is only 15 cm long, it must be replaced. To do this, pass it several times through the weave, if possible in the inner beads and not in the beads on the edges, because the thread will hold better. Make a minimum of 4 passes through several beads at a time.

Take a new piece of thread, jam it back into the weave and pick up where you left off.

Step 4
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 4

Once the main part of the bracelet is woven, we will make the tips. Thread the following 3 beads: 1 silver, 1 orange, 1 silver. Place them between the 4 center wires. Pass the needle back through the beads over the warp threads, without skipping the edge threads. Tighten slightly to bring the threads closer to the empty spaces on each side.

Step 5
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 5

Pass through the beads again, once below the chain threads and once above. Tighten a little more to stick the threads on each side to the beads.

Step 6
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 6

Repeat steps 4 and 5 with only 1 silver bead this time. Next, wedge the wire into the weave as explained in step 3 and cut it.

Step 7
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 7

If you used a large loom, cut the warp threads, keeping the maximum length of thread.

If you used the small loom method, unscrew the logs and remove the threads. Then cut them so that they are all the same length.

Step 8
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 8

Braid the wires two by two and tie a knot at the end.

Step 9
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 9

Cross the two braids. Cut a new 20 cm piece of yarn. Tie it on both braids and then start to make a macramé knot. To do this, run one thread under both braids and over the other thread. The second thread goes over both braids and through the loop formed by the first thread. Tighten, but don't force it.

Step 10
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 10

Repeat step 9 by reversing the passage of the two wires. So if the top one went under the braids, the top one will now go over the braids.

Tighten and repeat step 9 and 10 for 1 cm.

Step 11
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 11

You get this knot. Cut the wire ends of this knot 4 mm from the end of the knot on each side, then burn the wire ends with a lighter. The yarn will melt. It needs to fuse with the knot to make sure it doesn't come apart so watch carefully. Be careful not to burn yourself or the braids. Then put a little jewelry glue on the knots.

Step 12
Bracelet Miyuki delicas 15/0 on loom : Step 12

Try on the bracelet and adjust the length of the braids if necessary by tying a knot and cutting off the excess. The braids should be the same length on each side.

You can then add charms using an open ring that you will slide into the braid.
