How to set square cabochon beads?
Setting pearls with square PureCrystal cabochons is not very complicated, rest assured! The technique is actually the same as for round cabochons but if you want to highlight the square shape you have to make a straight finish on the front and not a ?star? finish like the one we made on the back of the cabochons in this tutorial video on needle weaving.
Of course, other pearl setting techniques exist, some with much more detail, but this one is simple and easy to remember for multiple forms of cabochons. You can indeed adapt it to PureCrystal cabochons oval , triangle, rectangle and many other shapes.
The principle consists first of all in finding the number of even pearls it takes to go around the cabochon. Then you thicken the outline by adding the same size of pearls, then you use smaller pearls to close the back and the front and thus trap the cabochon in the setting in Miyuki pearls. In this tutorial we used Miyuki delicas 11/0 and Miyuki 15/0 seed beads.

We used PureCrystal cabochons here, but you can also take semi-precious stone cabochons or glass Puca® cabochons .

Thread on 28 delicate 11/0 beads. Make 1 round in delicas 11/0 Miyuki in circular peyote, 2 rounds in Miyuki 15/0 white rockeries then 1 round by placing 1 rockery 15/0 1 gap on 2 so as to form the points of a star on the back. On the front add 1 round of 11/0 delicas, 1 round of 15/0 golden seed beads and finally 1 round of 15/0 white seed beads.
This technique makes it possible to create earrings as well as bracelets or necklaces. Do not hesitate to show your creations on our Facebook page, in the Super club group of Perles & Co customers or on Instagram by quoting us with @perlesandco or with #perlesandco.
