How to make a Brick Stitch ring?

These rings with holes and an empty space in the center are intended for pearl weaving. A pearl weave will be much more securely attached to the support with wire than with glue. What's more, this also solves another problem encountered when gluing bead weaves to an adjustable support such as these rings or re-formable beads. Indeed, pearls Miyuki Delica are made of glass. They are therefore brittle when subjected to high pressure. However, when a ring or bead is enlarged or redesigned, the tension exerted on the weave fixed with glue can cause the weave to stick or the beads to break. By attaching the beads to the support with wire, the weave is left flexible. The weave will therefore stretch freely and not break. The fact that an empty space is left inside the ring prevents the weave from becoming too thick. This is much better integrated into the design of the ring.

Normally, this type of jewelry is woven by directly adding lines of pearls between the holes. However, the holes in this ring are very close together. After multiple tests with different types and sizes of beads, it seems that the most suitable is to use 4 rocailles miyuki 15/0 wide and skip a hole after a while as the beads étant a little wider than the space between the holes, they'll settle. Alternatively, you can use another weaving technique. The Brick Stitch and Peyote with Miyuki Delica 11/0 is the most appropriate to match the ring. So here's a schéma pearl weave for Miyuki ring, which we hope you'll like. You can weave only the central part in Brick Stitch or Peyote: both techniques work with this pattern. Weaving on either side of the ring is optional. For this part, Brick Stitch is preferable to Peyote.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Start by weaving the central part of the ring in brick stitch. You also have the option of weaving it in Peyote. Cut 60 cm of thread. In Brick Stitch, start weaving with the longest line of beads. This is the center line of the weave. Weave it in Ladder Stitch.

Step 2

Then weave the next row, starting by attaching two beads. In Brick stitch, so that the thread is not visible on the côté, we always start a new row by weaving two beads à at a time. Here, you'll start this row with a Brick Stitch decrease.

.
Step 3

Once the first row of weaving has been completed, pass through the two orange beads to come back down and start weaving the other row. Start this new row with two beads and make a Brick Stitch increase.

Step 4

Fasten the weave to the ring following the instructions. Do not weave through the center hole on either side of the ring. Once the weave has been attached to the ring, wedge your thread into the weave and cut.

.
Step 5

To add decoration to the sides of the ring, start by cutting 60 cm of thread and tying it to the first hole with a double knot. Then start weaving the row by threading the first two beads. Attach the second bead to the second hole in the ring. Continue weaving the row, bead by bead, attaching them to the next hole each time. Do not attach beads to the center hole.

Step 6

Once you've completed the first row, slalom through the beads to the last gold bead strung in that row. Start the next row by threading one burgundy and one gold bead, and work your way up. Continue the row, weaving in the beads one at a time.

Step 7

Slalom through the beads again to get to the last orange bead strung during this rank 2. String a gold bead and an orange bead to start row 3 with an augmentation. Then continue weaving.

Step 8

Start row 4 with a decrease. Once the three golden beads have been woven in, catch your thread in the weave and cut it off. Do the same with the thread end. Répétez les étapes 5 à 8 pour tisser l'autre côté de la bague.
