Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch

How to weave beads around a hexagon?

Easily create a hexagonal pendant with Miyuki beads woven using the brick stitch weaving technique. Hanging from a pretty chain, it will be the perfect piece of jewelry for summer.
The weaving grid, used for this tutorial, comes from a former Summer Nights weaving kit, released in 2018 as a limited edition. If it's no longer on sale, we've decided to let you enjoy this chart again.

We suggest you make this summer necklace in two different colors: a sober, delicate version composed of white, beige and yellow, and a more vitaminized version with yellow, royal blue and turquoise blue. But you can create your own variation by choosing the colors you prefer from our wide selection of Miyuki Delica pearls.
This necklace can be customized to your own taste: you can use the chain with the mesh, material, size and length of your choice. For a more chic look, simply replace the yellow pearls with gold Miyuki Delica pearls. You can also add a natural stone charm in place of the pompom to add a precious touch.

Weaving around a ring may seem complicated, but it's a basic bead-weaving technique that's easy to understand and accessible to beginners. We invite you to take a look at our technique sheet for learning how to weave beads around a ring.

We love to see your creations, so feel free to share them on our Facebook page and Instagram account, mentioning Perles & Co.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 1

Cut 1.5 m of thread and thread it onto a needle. Tie the thread end to the hexagon. Keep 15 cm of thread to catch in the weave later. Thread 1 yellow bead and 1 dark blue bead. Slide the beads to the hexagon and wedge them side by side on the outside of the hexagon. Attach the second bead to the spacer by wrapping the wire around the bar and back into the bead.

Step 2

Go into the yellow bead from the top and then go into the blue bead from the bottom to hold them side by side. Thread a turquoise bead and attach it to the spacer as explained in step 2.

Step 3

Continue weaving the beads one by one. You get this.

Step 4
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 4

To begin the second strand of beads, string one yellow bead and one dark blue bead. Make a decrease as explained in step 3 and 4 of this tutorial: Brick stitch chevron earrings.

Step 5
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 5

When you get to the first peak, attach a first blue bead to the wire connecting the two yellow beads, then attach a second blue bead at the same level. You will do the same on the other side later. Follow the pattern to complete the second row of beads.

Step 6
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 6

Start weaving row 3 of the saltire and repeat step 5 at the 3 tops this time.

Step 7
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 7

Start weaving row 4 with a new decrease. After attaching the 2 yellow beads, thread a new yellow bead and attach it to the thread connecting the previous two yellow beads with the brick stitch weave and then, turn in the first yellow bead of row four. The thread is visible on both sides of the top bead, this is normal, there is no other way to make a point.

Step 8
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 8

Exit through the second yellow bead to continue weaving the fourth row. Repeat step 5 at each vertex to add 2 turquoise beads each time and remember to add the yellow bead to the vertex of each yellow triangle as in step 7.

Step 9
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 9

Follow the pattern to return to the first yellow bead.

Step 10
Hexagon necklace in Brick Stitch : Step 10

Pass the needle through the last stitch of the chain. Return to the yellow bead through the other hole and then pass through the stitch and bead again. Catch the thread in the weave and cut it off. Take a new piece of yarn and wedge it into the weave on the other side of the necklace to secure the other side of the chain in the same way.
