Brick Stitch weaving allows, with other bead weaving techniques, all kinds of creations around a ring or a hollowed out shape. Here is a model of earrings to make with your favorite colors. These beads are woven around hollowed out drops and then attached to an ear stud to make pretty Indian inspired earrings. The first round of Miyuki delica 11/0 creates a base on which you can easily add all kinds of beads.
This tutorial is intermediate-expert level and requires knowledge of Brick Stitch weaving around a ring. Here are some tutorials to learn this technique:
This design was originally in our limited edition Saffron Dust - Poussière de Safran - weaving kit released in 2018. It is no longer available for purchase. Check out other Miyuki weaving kits still available. Please note: The colors of the pureCrystal beads and cabochon are a bit different, as these references are no longer on sale since. We chose the colors that are most similar to the ones in the picture.
This kit was composed of two pieces of jewelry to make yourself: a pair of earrings and a bracelet wrap multiranks. The goal was to mix Miyuki beads with PureCrystal beads and pearl beads to make beaded jewelry with a precious and detailed look.
These earrings will look great with ochre, caramel, a nice white or cream shirt and other warm colors. Prefer sober outfits and without patterns to highlight these earrings. But of course, these are only suggestions. Feel free to adapt them to your own style.
Glue the Swarovski cabochons into the nails with jewelry glue. Cut 1 m of thread and thread it onto a needle. Tie the end of the thread to the drop. Save 10 cm of thread to catch in the weave later. Thread 2 yellow beads.
Slide the beads to the drop and wedge them side by side on the outside of the drop. Attach the second bead to the drop by wrapping the wire around the bar and back into the bead.
Go through the first bead from the top and then through the second bead from the bottom to hold them side by side.
Thread a yellow bead and attach it to the spacer.
Continue weaving the beads one by one. There are 26 yellow delica and 24 gold 15/0 rocailles. Place the beads on the drop as shown in the photo. Connect the first and last beads by making a loop as in step 2.
Take out the second yellow bead to the outside. Thread 1 bead 15/0, 1 crystal router 3 mm and 1 bead 15/0. Pass through the fourth bead from the outside.
Thread 1 Amethyst 3 mm spinner and 1 15/0 trellis. Pass through the spinner again without passing through the seed bead a second time. Pass the needle through the fourth yellow bead on the other side of the drop bar.
Go through the top bead, then thread 1 pearl bead 3 mm and 1 bead. Pass through the sixth yellow bead. Return to the same bead, passing through the other side of the drop so that the thread surrounds the spacer. Pass through the last rockery.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 to attach the beads as shown in the photo. When you get to the sunshine part of the third bead, go through the yellow bead and thread 1 seed bead, 1 pearl bead and 1 seed bead directly into the 15th yellow bead.
Thread 1 seed bead, 1 Amethyst 4 mm bead and pass through the seed bead accompanying the last spinner and into the twelfth yellow bead. Pass again in the 2 seed beads and the pearl bead to return in the fifteenth yellow bead.
Repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 to add the same bead strings symmetrically across the drop. Exit through the second-to-last yellow bead.
Zigzag through the yellow beads only to return to the twentieth yellow bead. Thread 1 Amethyst spinner and 1 rockery. Zigzag back through the spinner and into the twentieth yellow bead on the other side of the divider to secure it like the other spinners. Continue back through the yellow beads to attach the last spinner.
Continue backwards to the ninth 15/0 seed bead attached to the drop. Thread 1 delica bead, 1 seed bead, 1 crystal drop, 1 seed bead and 1 delica bead then prick into the sixteenth seed bead.
Zigzag through the previous beads to the twelfth bead. Thread 1 seed bead and pass through the ear stud hole. Go into the thirteenth bead. Go back into the twelfth bead to make a second turn in the assembly.
Once back in the thirteenth bead, go under the spacer ring and back into the bead. Zigzag through the beads to the sixth rocker and go through the center beads again from the other side of the drop bar.
Finish by tying a knot using the already woven thread and zigzag through a few beads before cutting the thread.
