How to attach a spacer to a bead weave?

This tutorial is for people who have already mastered loom weaving. To learn how to weave on a loom, go to this video tutorial: Making a Miyuki Delicas beaded cuff bracelet.

This tutorial is offered for the release of our new weaving spacers. They are rectangles with slots that can be used as a support for your Miyuki Delicas 11/0 beads creations. Here is an idea of how to use them, but other uses are possible. Initially they were created for loom weaving, but you can also use them with reverse peyote or make brick stitch earrings. More tutorials with these spacers will be coming out on the site so check back regularly or join us on instagram or facebook to be notified when they are released.

It is possible to attach the dividers in different ways, if you find another way to attach them, feel free to share it to everyone in the review section.

Of course, this weaving grid also allows you to create a bracelet without the spacer. A complete pattern is about 2 cm. Repeat it several times to get a bracelet the size of your wrist.

See more Miyuki delicas bead color combination ideas at the bottom of the page.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Green miyuki beads bracelet on loom with spacer : Step 1

Make two identical pieces of loom weave. These two pieces will be attached to the spacer later. To make these weaves, attach your 13 threads to the loom as normal and weave as if you were going to make the whole bracelet.

To know the length of the weave to make, do the following calculation: Wrist size - 1.1 cm = 2 x weaving pieces. So if my wrist is 14.8 cm, I make 14.8-1.1 = 13.7. 13.7/2 = 6.85 cm. The clasp will add ease afterwards.

Once you have your 6.8 cm weave (or the dimension you measured earlier), cut the threads of the weave, keeping as much thread length as possible. Set this first part aside and repeat to get the second part.

Step 2

On the longer side, pull the threads on the edge of the weave into the weave. These are the weft thread and the two loom threads on each side. The others will be used to secure the interlayer.

To pull a thread into the weave, thread it onto a needle and pass it through the beads without it showing over the beads. Therefore, make sure to pass from one neighboring bead to another. It is better to pass through the beads on the inside of the weave rather than on the edges, as the thread will hold better. Go through at least 4 rows of beads minimum. Keep in mind that you will need to pull in all 14 strands, so do not use the entire length of the row.

With the remaining 11 strands of yarn, go through the slot in the spacer and then back into the bead where the yarn came from before locking the yarn into the weave.

Step 3

Here is what it looks like once the threads are tucked into the weave.

Step 4

On the other side, tie all the wires in pairs with a double knot.

Step 5
Green miyuki beads bracelet on loom with spacer : Step 5

Fold back one of the legs of the end cap with round pliers. Slide the end of the round pliers inside the cylinder to slightly enlarge the slot at the entrance and facilitate the passage of the beads.

Cut the wire ends 1 mm from the knots and put jewelry glue on them. Slide the last row of beads and the knots into the end cap. Close the end cap partially with the round pliers, then finish folding the second tab by pushing it on a hard surface.

Immediately wipe off any traces of glue with a cloth.

Step 6

Repeat the above steps to attach the second part of the bracelet.

Step 7
Green miyuki beads bracelet on loom with spacer : Step 7

Attach the clasp with open rings and add a charm on the other side.
