DIY Creative Concrete Lamp

Do you dream of a cosy atmosphere in your home? Well, one of the secrets is to multiply the touches of light in the same room. To achieve this, we suggest you create an industrial-style designer lamp using creative concrete and a filament bulb for a soft, warm light. Concrete is a material that lets you have fun making your own decorative objects for your home (candleholders, trivets, vases...).

This tutorial will show you how to make a concrete lamp that will look great in a corner of your living room or on a bedside table.

We'd love to see your version of the concrete lamp... so don't hesitate to send us photos on Facebook to inspire others.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
DIY Creative Concrete Lamp : Step 1

Choose a container strong enough to hold the concrete mix and thin enough to be cut with a scalpel. Start by cutting a hole in the bottom of the container with a scalpel, so that the electrical wire can pass through. Take a piece of cardboard, place the bulb socket underneath and cut around it to make a round shape of the same diameter.

Step 2
DIY Creative Concrete Lamp : Step 2

Once the wire has passed through the hole, you now need to do the electrical assembly in the order shown in the photo. Position the 2 wires in the holes in the base. It doesn't matter whether the blue wire, for example, is attached on the right or left.

Step 3
DIY Creative Concrete Lamp : Step 3

Place your piece of cardboard on the socket, making sure you have enough room to pour the concrete.

Step 4
DIY Creative Concrete Lamp : Step 4

Protect your wires and socket by filling the hole with, for example, plastic wire wrap.

Step 5

Mix water with the concrete, making sure it's not too liquid. Once the container is full, tap it on the sides so that the concrete distributes properly. After the concrete has set for an hour, remove the cardboard and carefully reposition your sleeve. If it tends to rise, don't hesitate to place something heavy on top.

Step 6

You can use a scalpel to cut the plastic off the container, piece by piece, only after it has dried for 2 days. Your concrete will appear dark gray, then lighten day by day, and will be completely dry after a week. Please do not turn on your lamp before this time.
