Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp

Read before you start. This DIY bracelet has two possible levels. If you choose to make the easy version of this cuff without the gold bars, simply repeat the fan pattern until you have a sufficient weave size equivalent to a little more than the circumference of your wrist. The clasp will add a little less than 1.5 cm of ease. A fan pattern is 2 cm. For example for a 15 cm wrist, weave about 8 fans. For 16 cm, 8 and a half fans, and so on.

The version with the golden flower bars is not very complicated but is laborious and very long because you will have to weave the bracelet in several pieces, wedge all the threads in the weave, that is to say 78 threads, and assemble the parts together. These flower spacers are more suitable for multi-row bracelets with large beads, but this technique still opens up many possibilities. So I wanted to share it with you.

To calculate the necessary length of your 3 pieces of weaving use the indications of the first paragraph and add 1.2 cm for the two bars. So we go to 7 and a half fans for a 15 cm wrist. It's up to you to distribute them over the 3 pieces of weave. So for example, 2 pieces of 2 fans and 1/4 and a piece of 3 fans for the center. You can round off the number of fans for a looser bracelet as well. The bracelet in the tutorial is fitted and is made for a 14 cm wrist, so very thin.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 1

Attach 12 threads on a loom. To do this, attach a piece of yarn to one of the loom nails with a double knot and without cutting the yarn from the bobbin. Pass the thread on the opposite side and wrap it around the nail on the other side. Return to the first nail and wind the thread. Continue in this way without cutting the thread and then attach the thread to the first end once you have 12 threads on the loom. Now cut the thread, keeping 10 cm of the thread end.

Step 2
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 2

Cut about 1.5 m of wire and tie it with a double knot to the first wire. Keep 10 cm of wire. If you are doing the easy version, place the knot close to the edge of the loom, but if you are doing the difficult version, place it more in the middle. Thread the 11 beads of the pattern. Thread the thread with the beads underneath the loom. Position the beads between each thread with your finger, then pass through the beads with the needle, being careful to pass the needle over the loom threads.

Step 3
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 3

Follow the pattern by repeating the fan pattern. Follow the directions at the beginning of the tutorial to find out how long to weave. To stop the weaving make a double knot on the loom thread at the edge of the weave.

Step 4
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 4

Wedge the thread in the weave by passing it through the previous rows. Try to make the passages smaller than in the photo, otherwise there will be too much thread in the beads at the end, when you will have stuck almost all the threads and you won't be able to pass the needle anymore. Make 3 or 4 passes while trying to go far in the weaving.

Step 5
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 5

Cut the wires keeping as much wire length as possible. Tuck the threads one by one into the weave on one side only, on the side with the shortest threads for example. This also applies to the easy version, only you have one piece of weave of the previously determined length and you have to wedge the threads on both sides.

Step 6
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 6

Then glue one side in the clasp and for the easy version both sides. To do this, apply glue to the first two rows of beads, both sides and on the edges as well. You should put a generous amount but not too much so that it doesn't spill over. Then wait 24 hours before touching the bracelet. For the difficult version you can weave the other parts in the meantime. The easy version is at this stage finished!

Step 7
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 7

On the glued part, wedge the first wire and the end of the wire if not already done. Then the fourth, fifth, eighth, ninth and twelfth. You will therefore have six sons left that you will pass two by two through the holes of the barrette. Tighten the threads on one side of the central weave.

Step 8
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 8

With the remaining threads of the first part, tie the first part and the middle part together by wedging the threads into the weave.

Step 9
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 9

You get this. Tighten wires 1,4,5,8,9,12 as in step 7.

Step 10
Miyuki bracelet with golden flowers and magnetic clasp : Step 10

Attach the last part and the spacer with the remaining wires from the central part. Wedge the wires on the other side and glue the last part to the clasp. Wait 24 hours before touching and wearing it.
