How to weave miyuki beads in an arc?

How to weave miyuki beads in an arc?

Brick stitch or Peyote weaving techniques no longer make you dream? Want a touch of fantasy? Here is a technique for weaving beads around a spacer differently . You can use any weaving interlayer for this method. Here we use crescent-shaped dividers. These spacers are sold by 10, so if you have already made the double spacers moon weaving earrings you already have them! Otherwise it's time to embark on two intermediate to difficult level projects with almost the same material.

Let's talk a bit about the technique used here. Do you see DIY hoop earrings with gemstone beads attached around them ? Well, with a few details ready it is the same technique, or at least, the same principle. Here is the method synthesized in a few steps, for the rest, we leave you with the video.

  1. Cut 1.7 m of weaving thread and tie it to the interlayer. Thread enough beads to make the outline of the interlayer.
  2. Attach the very last pearl to the interlayer by wedging the pearl against the interlayer with your finger, then passing the thread under the weaving interlayer and then returning to the pearl. Attach the other side of the bead in the same way and do it a second time on the first side to return to the penultimate bead.
  3. For the rest, you will wind the wire between each pearl by passing it under the interlayer also then you will fix the first pearl strung in this turn as the last.
  4. For the second row, thread a few more beads because the surface is longer. Attach the last bead to the last bead in the first row with two loops. This is the scale weaving used to start a brick stitch weaving.
  5. Then fix the beads as before but instead of passing under the interlayer you will pass in the beads of the first row. Since there are more pearls, you may need to skip a second pearl.
  6. Then attach the first bead of the second row to the first bead of the first row always with the ladder point.
  7. Thread more beads for the third row and repeat steps 4 to 6.
  8. For the fringes nothing special, it's the usual technique. Be careful never to tighten the fringes because they will not be straight.
  9. For the blue chip, it is circular peyote weaving. We start with 3 pearls and try to keep a round appearance by adding 1 or 2 pearls depending on the turns.

Notes: Remember to tighten and replace your pearls as you go. If you are using a different interlayer, add a few more beads than you think in case, then break them with pliers as you go along if there are too many. You can put glue varnish on one side of the arc to keep it in place.
