These pliers are a unique tool for easily holding and sawing cannetilles.
In jewelry-making, a " cannetille " is when a metal wire is wound around a mandrel.
How to make jewelry rings? Here are a few tips on how to make a cannetille.
You'll need metal wire in the 0.7-1 mm range (silver wire, brass wire or Gold Filled wire), wire cutters and a mandrel (we have mandrels for small rings and another for large rings).
- Cut a good length of wire (about 20 cm).
- Wrap the wire around a mandrel. Hold the wire with your right hand (you can use parallel pliers), then pull with your left hand as you turn the mandrel.
- As you wind your wire onto the mandrel, make sure that the wire is tight and in perfect contact.
- Your cannetille is ready.
Use these pliers to hold your cannetille and saw your rings.
These pliers can hold coils of wire from 4.5 mm to 9 mm O.D. firmly (but without crushing them).
Simply slide a 2/0 jeweller's saw blade into the slot (machined in both jaws) and saw to obtain your rings.
The tool used for sawing is the bocfil, a small jeweller's saw.
