A wire file is a steel rod with a grooved tip that allows you to file metal by rotating it. Ideal for finishing your wires, this hand tool removes sharp edges from the ends of the wire for a clean, comfortable finish.
It consists of a hollow metal burr mounted on a wooden handle, designed to hold the end of the wire and file it down as it rotates. Compatible with copper, silver, aluminum, or Gold Filled wire, it is suitable for rounding the ends of wires up to 1 mm in diameter. The wooden handle provides a secure grip for precise work.
How do you use a hollow bur?
Step 1: Carefully insert the section of wire to be filed into the small recess.
Step 2: While holding the wire firmly, turn the wooden handle.
Step 3: Check the end of the wire from time to time, and continue filing until you achieve a smooth, rounded tip.

Tip: Always round the end in the same direction to prevent snagging.
