This pore-filler/waterproofing varnish is a coating specially designed to protect all your Jesmonite DIY creations.
As the name suggests, this varnish fills in small imperfections on your Jesmonite pieces, while adding a gloss finish that increases their resistance over time.
Note that this varnish is compatible with candle wax. Although it resists the heat of the wick perfectly, it can sometimes stain; however, it is generally very easy to clean.
What is Jesmonite? It's a non-toxic, solvent-free acrylic resin composed of a mixture of gypsum (plaster stone) and a water-based acrylic component. The ratio is 1 volume of liquid to 2.5 volumes of powder.
Extremely lightweight, Jesmonite is resistant, durable and impact-resistant. Easy to use, it's the ideal material for decorative objects.
An ecological alternative to resin, Jesmonite can be colored with pigments or color chips to create a terrazzo effect.
How to use this pore-filler varnish?
1 - Dilute in approximately 10-20% water.
2 - On a clean, dry surface, apply a first coat using a brush or roller.
3 - Once the first coat is completely dry, apply a second coat of varnish
4 - Allow to dry completely
5 - Reapplication is recommended every 6 years or so.
Please note that this varnish is not food-safe.
