"Féerie" Christmas Ornament by Puca®

How do you make a silver Christmas ornament using Puca glass beads?

The "Féerie" Christmas ornament by Puca® is a sphere entirely covered with silver, matte white, and mint green glass beads. The patterns are arranged in sections, featuring flower-decorated beads caps and a few crystal rhinestones to be glued on. A silver cord allows it to be hung on a Christmas tree, a door, or a piece of furniture.

The base is a biodegradable polymer bead designed by our partner Les perles par Puca®, which is painted silver with a multi-surface acrylic paint. Damos® glass beads in Matte Labrador, Arcos® in Matte White, and Volos® in Candy Light Mint create varying levels of depth. Miyuki 11/0 and 15/0 Galvanized Silver seed beads fill in the spaces between the beads. Find these sizes in our Miyuki 11/0 seed beads and Miyuki 15/0 seed beads categories. The PureCrystal rhinestones are of excellent quality.

This beading tutorial on a base requires an intermediate skill level. The beads are strung onto Fireline thread using extra-fine beading needles, then secured to the ball. The rhinestones and some of the beads are attached using jewelry glue, which requires a bit of patience while it dries. The tutorial is step-by-step and doesn’t involve any complex techniques, but keeping the rows even requires precision. Anyone who has completed a beading project before will find this easy to follow.

This Christmas DIY fits right in with winter decor in cool tones, where silver pairs with matte white. The matte beads and those with an AB finish—a surface treatment that gives a subtle iridescent sheen—catch the light from the string lights without being too dazzling. The ornament can also be placed in a small bowl or on a festive table.

You can personalize it first and foremost by choosing the color of the Damos® beads—check out the product variations in this tutorial.
