Cut 50 cm of weaving thread. Thread 11 SuperDuo. Tie the two ends with a double knot, keeping 10 cm of thread end on the shorter side. Don't tie too tightly either.

This tutorial presents a DIY glass brand with beads. We'll be using SuperDuo beads, seed beads and 6 mm gold beads. SuperDuo, these diamond-shaped glass beads with two holes, come in an incredible variety of colors and effects: transparent, opaque, matte, ceramic, and much more. This diversity lets you personalize your creations to match any style of festive decoration.
For a classic, vintage feel, opt for shades of red and green, ideal for a traditional Christmas table. If you prefer a more contemporary style, play with modern, elegant shades like blue and silver. A selection of blue and silver pearls is available at the bottom of the page in the section dedicated to product variations. These beaded glass markers are perfectly suited to your desires and the mood you wish to set at your table.
They're not only decorative, they're also practical and customizable. They make it easy for your guests to locate their glass, while adding a chic, festive touch to your table. They're quick and easy to make: it takes around 20 minutes to make one beaded flower. The red flowers are reminiscent of the Poinsettia, also known as the Christmas flower or Christmas rose, an emblematic plant for the festive season. Whether for Christmas, New Year's Eve or any other celebration, these homemade glass markers will charm your guests and bring a warm, personal touch to your table. So get your pliers ready, select your favorite beads, and get to work creating these unique and elegant DIY glass markers to light up your festive table!
A single bag of SuperDuo beads contains around 130 beads. You can therefore plan on 10 to 11 flowers per bag of beads and adapt the rest of the material. However, as the aim is to differentiate between guests' glasses, it's best to use several colors of beads. To make different glass markers with few colors, you can mix the colors of the petals of the same flower: alternate red and gold petals, make one side red and one side gold, mix 3 colors etc... For simplicity's sake, if you're planning several glasses per guest - such as a wine glass and a water glass - then make the same flower twice, since the glasses belong to the same person.
The material list corresponds to 20 flowers, or just under 2 euros per glass marker. The open rings are decorative only. You can attach the flowers directly to the glasses with wire, string or ribbon. This tutorial is a variation on the Pearl sunflower earrings tutorial.
This tutorial was produced for J'aime Créer n°10, a special holiday issue published in October 2022.

Cut 50 cm of weaving thread. Thread 11 SuperDuo. Tie the two ends with a double knot, keeping 10 cm of thread end on the shorter side. Don't tie too tightly either.

Place the needle on the longest thread end if this is not the case. Iron through the holes near the center of the SuperDuo to solidify the weave. Make one complete turn. Thread a 6 mm round gold bead and place it in the center of the flower. Using the needle, pass through the SuperDuo opposite the SuperDuo from which the thread emerges.

Now pass through the second hole in the bead and work your way up to the outside of the flower.

Thread a SuperDuo which will serve as the flower's leaf, paying attention to the direction. Switch to the SuperDuo opposite.

Repeat step 4 to add a second leaf. In the next space, add a golden rockery.

Continue around the flower, adding golden seed beads between each petal. The first two times, add just one, and the third time, two. This is where we'll add the ring at the end.

Pass through the beads again to solidify the weave by making a complete turn. Then pass the needle as shown in the photo.

Pass through the golden pearl and the SuperDuo opposite.

Bring the two ends of thread together and tie with a double knot. Iron the thread ends into 3 beads to hide them, and trim off any excess.

Open a ring with two pliers and slide it into the space below the two rocailles. Close the ring. All that's left is to attach your glass marker with ribbon or wire.
