Colorful round weave earrings

How to make pearl earrings?

Would you like to try your hand at bead weaving, but don't know where to start? Discover in this tutorial, created by our partner Sylvie, how to make a pretty pair of earrings ideal for this summer. Extremely light and comfortable to wear, they're sure to add a touch of whimsy to your summer outfit. All you need are seed beads, two faceted beads, thread and a needle. Start by weaving a strand of pearls around your faceted bead and continue weaving using the brick stitch technique.

The great thing about these earrings is that they are infinitely customizable. You can choose to make your weaves larger or smaller, and thus have a loop with more or less balanced rounds. You can also choose to weave in more rounds for a longer pair of dangling earrings. More of a solid color team? Choose your favorite color from our range of Miyuki 11 Rocaille colors.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Colorful round weave earrings : Step 1

To begin weaving, pass the thread through a facet. Leave a few centimetres protruding from the beads to stop the work.

Pass the thread back through the entry hole to make a half-turn of the facet.

NB: the thread used for the first two steps is blue so that you can correctly see the passages in the bead.

Step 2

Then do the same on the other side of the veneer. Repeat a second time to consolidate.

Step 3

Then take two rocailles beads and pass them under the two wires stretched around the facet. Then pass through the second rocaille again.

Step 4

Then thread on a third bead and continue the brickstitch weaving. The1st row should comprise 8 beads.

If you're new to brickstitch weaving and don't know how, here's a technique sheet to help you get started.

Step 5

To complete the first row, pass the thread through the first rocaille and back through the last bead. Then pass back through the first seed bead and cross the facet to hold the first row in place.

Take out the thread in a rocaille.

Step 6

To make the second row, add 4 beads as you weave, weaving 2 beads on the same thread.

Step 7

Finish the row by returning to the first rockery of the second row. Then work your way up to the last bead.

Make 5 rows, adding 4 beads to each row. Stop weaving by passing the thread through the beads.

Step 8

Do the same for the second round, making 10 rows of rocailles around the facet.

Assemble the two rounds by passing the thread through 2 beads in each round. Pass through several beads to consolidate, then stop weaving.

Step 9

Glue the ear stud in place and center it on the small circle. Press firmly and allow to dry.

Your pair of earrings is finished.
