Cut 50 cm of weaving thread. Thread 11 SuperDuo.

Do you already know the SuperDuo beads? They are diamond shaped glass beads with two through holes. These beads are not new, many tutorials exist with these beads. Here is a simple idea to make with SuperDuo beads: Make flowers using the beads to make the petals. In this tutorial, we used yellow SuperDuo, green Kite Beads and brown PureCrystal round beads to make Sunflower earrings.
These little earrings will be perfect for summer. If you want a more spring-like variation, you can use white SuperDuo and a yellow round bead to make a daisy, or use blue to make a cornflower. You can find these two other versions in the photo at the bottom of the page and in the material list.
This tutorial is suitable for beginners. To make it, you will need a weaving needle that is a bit soft to get between the beads. If it is too stiff, it may break. This will be the main difficulty, because the principle is very simple to understand thanks to our step-by-step instructions.

Cut 50 cm of weaving thread. Thread 11 SuperDuo.

Tie the two ends of the wire together with a double knot, keeping 10 cm of wire end on the shorter side.

This is how it looks. You don't want to tighten it too much either. Position the flower flat to make sure the Superduo doesn't stand up on its own. Put the needle on the longest piece of thread if it does not. Iron through the holes near the center of the SuperDuo to solidify the weave.

Thread a 6mm Purecrystal round bead and place it in the center of the flower. With the needle, thread through the SuperDuo in front of the SuperDuo where the thread comes out.

Now go through the second hole in the bead to work your way up the outside of the flower.

Put on a Kite bead, beware of the direction. Go to the SuperDuo on the other side.

Repeat step 6 to add a second Kite bead.

Continue around the flower adding gold seed beads between each petal. The first two times, put only one and the third time, put two. This is where we will add the ear stud at the end.

Finish by adding a single gold rockery each time. Go around the flower once more, passing through the superduo, kite and rockery to solidify the weave.

The following steps will only serve to solidify the weave by ironing in the beads. Go down one notch in the SuperDuo located at the brown bead hole.

Pass through the brown bead.

Switch to 2 SuperDuo.

Tie a double knot using the thread from the beads. Go through a few more beads and cut the thread.

Thread the remaining thread through several beads as well and cut it off.

Glue Kite in the earrings. Open a ring and slide it over the two seed beads. Add the ear stud and close the ring. The glue is dry in 24 hours.
