How to make New York-themed brooches?
New York City, also known as "Big Apple", is world-famous for its monuments, frantic car traffic, architecture and street food. Emeline invites you to create four brooches representing the emblems of New York: a slice of pizza, a hamburger, the Statue of Liberty and a red apple.
Two techniques are used to make these brooches: brick stitch weavingandfelt cutting/gluing.
Brooch n°1: Pizza brooch
Materials: assorted yellow, red, orange and pink felt - thick black felt - black Miyuki beads - black sewing thread - cléotoo glue
Print out the pattern and check that it's the right size using the check square, which should measure 3X3 cm. Cut out the various templates.

Cut the clay triangle from the yellow felt and the crust from the orange felt. Cut a 6x5 cm rectangle from the thick black felt.
Cut circles in the pink felt for the ham and smaller circles in the red felt for the tomatoes.

Glue the pink and red circles to the pizza clay, leaving the glue to dry.

Add a few black beads as olives, securing them with sewing thread (Miyuki Nylon beading thread) and a beading needle.

Glue the clay and crust to the black felt rectangle, allowing the glue to dry.

Cut the black felt following the outline of the pizza, leaving a few millimetres.

Attach the brooch support to the back with sewing thread.

Brooch n°3: Statue of Liberty brooch
Materials: blue felt, thick black felt, white embroidery thread, felt glue.
Print out the pattern. Make sure it's the right size, using the 3x3cm square. Cut the blue felt according to the pattern. Also cut a square of approx. 6x6cm from the thick black felt.

Next, separate your embroidery thread into 3 strands. You need to embroider with only two strands. Start the embroidery with the crown.

Then make the hair.

To embroider the eyes, use a straight stitch and a bow stitch just below.

Then embroider the nose and mouth.

Glue the back of the statue to the square of thick black felt, leaving the glue to dry.

Cut the black felt along the contour of the face, leaving a few millimeters of border.

Secure the brooch support with sewing thread.
