How to sew washable nursing pads?

How to make reusable breast pads yourself?
How to sew breast pads in washable fabric?

Today we share a tutorial of Atelier Plume (do not hesitate to visit his Instagram account and his shop)! This is a special sewing tutorial future mom and especially lactating moms!

We propose to make yourself your washable nursing pads while waiting for the arrival of baby! This is what combine business with pleasure by making his own accessories during a creative afternoon. It is also a good gesture for the environment since they are reusable !

Very simple to make this tutorial is for everyone, even the greatest beginner. So, no fears!
And in the worst case, you can of course take a look at our different datasheets:

- How to put the thread in the sewing machine?

- Mark and cut his tisu

- My first step in sewing: what material do you need?

In addition, this tutorial requires very little material: a compass (or a small plate about 12 cm in diameter), a pair of scissors and a pen are enough.

Appointment at the beginning of this tutorial to see or review our live.

For the most creative we share the tutorial Bib panda double gauze also proposed by Atelier Plume.

The steps :

Step 1 : Using the compass or your plate, trace two circles 12cm in diameter on each of the three tissues and cut them out.

Step 2 : Pin together on the extreme edge (not to pierce the waterproof fabric) the circles of different materials.

Step 3 : Sew 0.5 cm from the edge to the right stitch and then to the zig-zag stitch by tightening the stitch length.

Your breast pads are now complete, easy right? !

Tip:

It is best to make the breast pads sufficiently in advance so that they can be washed regularly before use. The washings will allow the microfleece tissue to become more absorbent. Think about it especially if you make these breast pads for the purpose of offering them!

Take them from the maternity, the soft material will bring you comfort from the first feedings.

Merci
