In the jewelry industry, the derocher powder is an essential stripper for those who work with metal. Usually, it is composed of sulfuric acid, but this one is based on sodium bisulfate known as Sparex. It is particularly suitable for silver alloys.
A derocher solution is used in a hot bath, it allows to strip the solderings (borax) and to remove the traces of oxidation due to annealing or brazing.
Use:
1. Dissolve 100gr/litre solution with warm water (max 52°C)
2. Check that the product is completely dissolved, without any residue in the solution.
3. Use anti-acid pickling tanks or containers.
4. Dip the objects in the solution until you obtain clean surfaces.
5. When there are no more traces of oxidation, remove the item from the drip tray and immerse it in a bowl of cold water to rinse.
While it is advisable to use acid-proof vats or tubs, it is also possible to use a sturdy container such as a Pyrex bowl that will withstand the heat.
Precautions to take when using a derobing solution:
- Equip yourself with a pair of gloves,
- Wear safety glasses and a mask,
- Work in a well-ventilated area and open windows as much as possible. Ideally, you should have an extractor hood over the derochers.
- Don't boil your deroché.
