Cut two pieces of wire that are slightly larger than the circumference of the chosen cylinder.
Make the pair at the same time so that they are identical.
This is a question you often ask us at Perles and Co. How to make creoles with metal wire? Which wire should I use to make creoles that won't warp? Making creoles is not very difficult, even a beginner can do it, but you will still need some tools.
You can make creoles with copper wire, brass wire, gold filled wire, stainless steel wire or 925 silver wire. You just have to choose a wire that is not too soft, but not too hard either! Very hard wires will tend to regain their shape and it is then difficult to give them the round shape you want. The harder the wire, the harder it will be to work with. The copper wire we have listed is the easiest to use for beginners. Once you are comfortable with the technique, you can move on to semi-hard in other materials. Hard silver wire will give you a hard time ;) so go for semi-hard annealed wire.
The ideal wire size is 0.6 mm to 0.8 mm. This is the diameter of the wire used in ready-made creoles.
Cut two pieces of wire that are slightly larger than the circumference of the chosen cylinder.
Make the pair at the same time so that they are identical.
Fold the wire 90° to the side 1 cm from the end.
Form a loop.
Put the creole on the cylinder and mark the location of the loop on the other end of the wire.
Bend the wire at this point.
Cut the folded end of the wire 6 mm from the corner.
Sand the wire end until it is soft under your finger.
