These large-eyed embroidery needles for canvas and fabric are ideal for working smoothly with thick threads and ribbons in your embroidery projects.
Manufactured by the French company Bohin, these needles feature a wide eye that makes it easy to thread even the thickest threads. Their blunt tips are specially designed to glide between the threads of the fabric without damaging them, making them particularly well-suited for embroidery on fabric and canvas. They are available in three sizes: No. 18, No. 20, and No. 24, to accommodate different fabrics and thread thicknesses.
How do you use these embroidery needles?
These needles are suitable for many techniques: cross-stitch on Aida cloth, tapestry work on canvas with tapestry wool, or embroidery on linen with Mouliné thread. They can also be used for projects combining embroidery and beads, particularly for sewing beads onto fabric or creating embroidered patterns embellished with small beads.
Which needle for which project?
- No. 18: canvas and more open-weave fabrics, tapestry wool / thicker beads
- No. 20: Aida 4–5.5 sts/cm, 2–3-ply Mouliné cotton or medium-weight bead thread
- No. 24: Aida 5.5 sts/cm and fine linen, 1–2 strands of Mouliné
Reminder: the higher the number, the finer the needle
