What is soutache?
Soutache is a narrow, flat, braided and textured braid. Traditionally used to decorate garments or lampshades, soutache is now enjoying a revival with the trend towards textile jewelry and Bead Embroidery.
It can be made from a variety of materials (viscose, cotton, wool, silk, polyester...) and can be applied using a variety of techniques. In fact, soutache ribbon can be used for sewing, embroidery, jewelry, etc.
Tip : When you cut soutache, the end frays. Before cutting, put a piece of scotch tape on it and cut at that point.
